Steem did almost 250,000 Transfers Yesterday - And it was NOT Message Spam
I posted earlier about Steem doing 250,000 transfers in a single day yesterday, and briefly compared that to Bitcoin and Litecoin.
My first thought afterwards was "well, Steem has a lot of wallet spam". People often send transfers with a minimum value, as well as a memo, in order to get users attention. In that case, we can't really compare it to Bitcoin transactions. So I asked @abh12345 to pull some data, and the chart above is the result.
As you can see, only 12% of the transfers were for minimum value. Very low value transfers of 0.01 Steem or SBD (a half penny or a penny depending on denomination) or less account for merely 14.9% of transfers. While most transfers are low value, that is to be expected, and historically has been the case on Bitcoin until recently as well.
Conclusion
Wallet spam accounts for a low portion of transfers and does not account for the growth of Steem transfers.
This is awesome. A message we should try to get ‘out there’, maybe in a cool infographic comparing transactions on other blockchains.

There were also some transfers of above 1000 Steem, up to 400,000, however the number of them is small enough that it doesn't show up on the chart.
That's pretty impressive! Seems like this would be a really good statistic (and post) to bring to the attention of @nathanmars and the group conducting current Steem awareness campaign on twitter.
I wonder if it is fueled by the gaming apps?

Great proof of the capability of Steem to handle efficient and frictionless microtransactions fpr businesses and other users.
