The cost of a full Steem node?
Seems like Steem’s new updates would be de-emphasising RAM usage. NVMe disks are cheaper and would deliver well enough. A dedicated server cost for such a thing may be lesser than $200 / month.

I’m bad with technical computer things...sorry does this mean that it will be easier to help the chain / be a witness? At least cost wise?

Yes, should be much lower and might also encourage more user participation in setting up nodes, which is a good thing i guess
I think that will be imperative as Steem hopefully grows in the future. Great news!

Probably able to do backup witnessing @ lesser than $100 / month, with about 40% profit above cost at the current steem price range. But of course that would require some witness votes
Well had no idea of the cost thingy but thanks and hope it helps all the witness in case of the price ;)
