Why I joined Steemflagrewards and why you should too.

in #steem5 years ago

It is beyond me how many people are in fact abusing the steem blockchain. From bid bot abuse to vote farms it seems like there's no limit to the madness and @steemflagrewards & company are doing everything in their power to take back from these people who are "stealing" from the reward pool.

Why would you sell your votes to bid-bots or self-upvote a bunch of your own comments... when you can do this?

@steemflagreward is A initiative of gathering people who wish to not see steem get distributed into the wrong hands. Steem is still new and because of that there's a lot of ways to abuse the system. Sadly, many people are doing exactly this... more than you might realise.

How does @steemflagrewards reward you, you might ask?
Well, its super easy, when you flag and do a comment accordingly to @steemflagrewards instructions they will in return upvote you for the amount you downvoted the abuser. (plus a little in order to compensate for curation).

A example: I made a full down vote on a "abuse approved" account yesterday worth about 0.37cents. I got a upvote in return of about 0.44 cents.

So if @steemflagrewards are making sure you are almost getting a 1 to 1 ratio on your votes, why in the world would you not do it, when at the same time you are doing good for the community?

The risk of people retaliating is low

You don't have to be the first guy stepping in to down vote an "approved abuser". If you wish to play it safer you can easily just down-vote what other people from SFR have downvoted. (you can find those in the regular posts made from @steemflagrewards. Usually, people will not target you, since you are with more people doing the "dirty work".

If you do feel heroic and are moving out on someone as the first person, you will probably get some good street credit. But it might mean since you are the one initiating it that you will see retaliation. It is seen before among the members(although if it happens it seems like they try to compensate for your loses.

SFR might be dirty work, but it is worth it!

Steemflagrewards are doing a lot of things right. Creating awareness, relocating rewards to the people who actually deserve it, re-educating and last but not least being fair.

If any of those who got "flagged" feel like it has been unfair, they are invited to the discord channel to dispute and discuss the matter. Hopefully with the purpose that the "abuser" will change his behavior OR have a very good explanation for his current one.

I have a lot of times talked about why flagging is not enough. But sometimes we gotta do what we can do here and now, and hope the "major" problems will change with time.

If you are a person who wishes to do a little dirty work for the steem community and at the same time getting paid better than any bid-bots would pay for your votes, you should go ahead!

If you are interested just get into their discord and they will answer any questions you might have.

Thank you
It is important to raise awareness about SFR, and to get people to deal with the situation like it is right now.

I have a lot of times talked about why flagging is not enough. But sometimes we gotta do what we can do here and now, and hope the "major" problems will change with time.

That was one of the problems I had with one of your later posts I read, where you talked about abuse and blamed the economy on the abuse. It seemed like it was only an excuse to not care about the current situation, and self-vote etc. oneself. But I got surprised by you actually showing up at our place. Thank you for that.

A example: I made a full down vote on a "abuse approved" account yesterday worth about 0.37cents. I got a upvote in return of about 0.44 cents.

Actually we try to give you more for your flag than you would've got if you had voted yourself with the voting power. The ROI you get depends on a few factors. If you flag for the first time with SFR, you get a little incentivation bonus, and if you are the first one to flag a post, you get a little bonus as well (because you were the one discovering it, and you take the retaliation risk as well)

But I need to say something as well: if you flag someone, it is to expect to receive flags in retaliation. Especially if your flag is big. That is a risk that we all are taking, and that we should be taking.
Thank you!

Yeah I actually had a feeling you were not always agreeing with my opinion, but that is only good, right? I still believe as you said, that flagging is never gonna solve the real issue. But I started seeing just like abusers are a sign of something has to change, so is those who "flags" them a GREAT way of showing that people want a change. That, and at least it provides some awareness for those who see this initiative.

Thanks for the clarification of all of this man, I am still just learning about it, hopefully I can drag a few extra hands into it!

Well it first seemed like we disagreed, but we don't do as much as I thought we would ;-)

Oh wow... quite surprising that Ive never heard about this before... would for sure take part had I more power :D but yeah, there are way too many accounts I want to upvote soo nothing left for downvoting

You have plenty of sp and rep to help tackle abuse. Many steemflagrewards abuse fighters have much less sp than yourself. Its not a hard thing to do and the community and camaraderie is great fun. You should join us.

You will never feel like you have enough power though, haha:D Maybe you will join the crusade in the future!

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check this out. It is a bit scary getting into this kind of a battle being that a whale could just decide to flag me into even more obscurity; but I believe that it is a good project.

You only pick battles you think you can win. Larger entities require bigger backup such as @steemcleaners.
