DDos attack
Steemit.com has been subjected to a DDoS attack that brought down the website yesterday.
But what the hell is a DDos attack and is the Steem Blockchain at risk?
DDos attack also knowed as distributed denial-of-service attack is actually a very simple and non brainstorm internet attrack, at the same time it can be very efficient on his propose. And the propose is to make a website or server unavailable by consuming all the site resources or bandwidth for example.
A simple example of DDos is:
Imagine you and 20 friends combine, and are able to, open a specific website on a browser and refresh the page several times every second during several minutes. Teorical it is possible to make the website unavailable because the computer where the website is hosted are not able to respond to a huge number of refresh.
There are more sofisticated DDos attack but the propose are the same.
And most important!
Only Steemit.com website was affected by the DDos attack, Steem Blockchain has never been at risk.

Yesterday other companies suffered the same attack. Unfortunately more and more there is this type of attack and I think it will worsen with the Internet of things, because more devices will be connected to the Internet therefore more vulnerable machines to be used for DDoS attacks.

Yap... And it's to expensive to defend a sofisticated DDos attack but is what it is... Internet on best and on worst
