🔀 Steem(it) Crisis!? - Let´s Talk About Possible Solutions & Stop Complaining!

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

Steem is down to less than $0.9 and that´s possibly one of the reasons why we see so many people starting to complain and criticize the place we all claim to love. Therefore let´s be honest with ourselves, we are currently facing a crisis on the Steem Blockchain!

Might it be the ongoing fight against Spam and Abuse, the discussion about Voting Bots or Steem Power Delegation Leasing, which just increased massively through a new and cheap supply from @Blocktrades. You may already find the most diverse opinions on those topics but that´s not all fellow Steemians are currently talking about.

Actually, whenever you´re digging deeper you can find out that there seems to be ways more ongoing than the normal Steemit User might know about. To showcase this I want to share the words/opinions of @Dan & @Transisto with you on some further points:

I´m just here for a bit more than 3 months so that I´m definitely not the one to judge right or wrong and therefore I will try to look at it all from a neutral perspective. But anyways I still know that there won´t be a consensus between both sides as long as we´re not intensively talking about it.

Join the Discussion on Possible Solutions!

Therefore I want to encourage everyone to join the Discussion that @Stellabelle just started a few hours ago. At the time of my Post there are already more than 190 comments contributed to it, from which some are really honest and valuable. Raise your voice as that´ll be the only way to be heard during those times of conflict.

Let us talk with each other and especially bring the large stake holders around one table. Without them it won´t be possible to first come to a solution and second to make the necessary changes happen. Or what do you think about it?

Let´s not give up on Steem but rather discuss the issues we are facing!
Let´s work together to overcome our Differences & make this Platform great again!

Posts like these, show me that I have to see how I will minimize my loses.

There's no loss yet just some topics that need further discussions among the community.

This is certainly an interesting discussion, I haven't followed much higher level stuff but I certainly hope we aren't heading for a crisis, I like it hear an see a great long term potential, let's hope it gets sorted out

I can just agree with you on that @phelimint. Steemit is a great place with high quality content and an awesome community. It would be a shame to risk all this by not discussing all those topics which are subjects of dispute.

Great post buddy. I totally agree with u on this . United we stand and divided we fall. Let all the great steemitians come together and find solutions to the ongoing issues. Steemit is a great platform and we should do all possiblein our strives to revive and thrive it to new heights. Upvoted and following u now.

Very well chosen words. We are all in the same boat, so differences should be burried for the greater good and compromises made to find a consensus we can all mostly agree with. There won't be a perfect solution but at least a better one. That being said it might need some whales to give up potential profits for the benefit of the community.

I too am new. I have been posting what I think is relevant information; but no substantial readers.... the spam and the bots and the limited time factors to even see a post and with no resurrection for them all adds to the disillusionment, so what you say I certainly agree with...

It's hard to get recognized in the beginning and there is no guarantee for success on Steemit. But networkers like e.g. @stackin are the best example for all of us on how to get successful through interaction, which is still the best way to go IMO :)

@Steembusiness is it possible that the price of Steem going below $0.9 is good for mass adoption of steem? (network effect)

I don't think that a low price will lead to mass adoption. That'll rather happen with a high one or some more marketing initiatives.

I commend you @steembusiness for taking the time to ask users to come together and have a discussion. If we can do this and come to a viable solution as a community we are already miles ahead any other crypto-mmunity, whether its based on a social token like steemit or not.

I'll be checking out the other thread to see if my input can help, but this issue wouldn't have been brought to the focus of my eyebeams without your blog.

Thanks for doin' you @steembusiness.

you're the man now dawg

We definitely need to at least talk & discuss about all those topics openly. There's no use for anyone in staying silent!

A discussion needs to take place on what percentage of the reward should be based on who you are and what percentage on what you wrote. Currently, I think too much weight is getting placed on the former as the former have more money, join voting rings, have a huge number of followers, their upvotes mean more. This causes a shift between rich and poor, and causes the poor -new people to never be heard. How do you think the curation system would work if we disabled the following feature, and hid the authors of posts? I don't think we should, but it illustrates how if you could only judge content by the content it would change dramatically. When Ned has his post get likes and a $0.03 reward he would understand. Instead, if he posts a picture of coffee it is going to get a high reward. New people are valuable and while they are not as good as expressing those opinions and one who have been here long, to not empbrace them is a problem.

How many people are reading your content on twitter whenever you join? Well I guess almost none as you are unknown by then but through commenting and posting good content you can get known over time. That's the same on Steemit just in combination with some rewards.

I agree though that there should be discussions on how the rewards are distributed through whales etc. They got a huge influence and therefore as well a huge responsibility.

Let me explain it this way, some people are extroverts; some are introverts. Sometimes the introverts know more about how things work than the extroverts. (It goes into a whole lot more about personality traits that I can explain or even remember here.) In a (good) business meeting, it is necessary to get everybody's opinion. The salesmen- will promise the world and make himself look great talking the whole time. However, one needs to ask the engineer, if it can be done. It doesn't matter what the salesmen promises if the engineer cannot deliver. Now if you are running the meeting you will stop mid-point and get everyones opinion's. This pays off long term in meeting effectiveness. You want to make sure everyone has a voice. Steemit is causing the little people not to get heard. they are run over. Now there is a process whereby you do have to let everyone air their thoughts. This is am important part of the process too. But one also needs to make sure all the voices get heard. When I joined steemit the promise was earn money for good content; not earn money for medium content and having a lot of money. Not Earn money manipulating the System, not earn money for being a good self promoter.

When you join a new company you really do not do any work until you get through the training period. In Fact, when you are in the training period, you cost your trainer time/money. He is not able to work because he is training you. Companies take the time and effort to train people because they need to. Turnover can cost three months salary for a company. This is why companies put so much effort in retaining employees and keeping people happy. Team building, company picnics, family time off ect pay off of for the company.

Awesome! Good job

Im sure its going to rebound strongly after the bitcoin fork

Still the issues need to be addressed ;)
