Future of Steem in Question

in #steem4 years ago (edited)

Dear all,

Two hours ago, the Steem blockchain was forked, and Hive was born (in my view this is a controversial event, but everything that happen in the last weeks related to the governance of Steem was also controversial).

The majority of witnesses moved to Hive and abandoned Steem - most of them, except @justyy, @themarkymark, and few others...

This means that the Steem blockchain is governed by @justinsunsteemit, and most probably the 0.22.5 update will be enforced.

What does this mean? In few words, TRON's founder will take full control of the Steem blockchain, if Steem will still be alive...

I expect that one by one, the dApps and the community will shift to Hive - at least on the first phase. If Justin Sun continues with his idea of shortening the power-down time, the markets will be flooded with Steem.

Anyone still reading this post? How do you see it?

Sort:

there was a part of the community who were going to stay on both ... some of those changed their mind yesterday when Justin decided to make another boneheaded centralized move by removing posts from steemit.com he didn't like .. the ones about Hive specifically.

Yes, with his actions, Justin created the best marketing campaign for Hive...

We already see alot of dApps shifting to hive so you might be right.
But hive needs a functional image upload etc soon otherwise people will come back to steem. We'll see how it turns out.

I was surprised today to see that there was no solution for images. I know this is expensive, but it's a "must have" functionality. Let's see how it goes...

I've used Imgur.com for the images I post on Steem ever since I arrived here in August 2016. I know where my images are and can use them in other places.
