Indeed, we don't seem to be hardwired to think long term (especially odd considering the small amount of time that platforms like steemit have been around, yet people seem to act like it's been around forever!)

@exyle did a good vlog today along similar lines pointing to how hard it's going to be to earn steem going forward once smt's are released and the BIG content creators join (along with their followers).

Collectively, this reminds of that phrase:

"the best time to plant a tree is years ago, the second best time is TODAY".
