The tool does not seem to be working for me...
But your thoughts on reputation are quite right. I think people are drawn towards reputation when new and increasingly towards high SP as they start to understand how Steemit really works.
You just have to reload the page or go to 'replies' for example and then go back to blog. Sometimes it doesn't work at all though.

The blog histogram doesn't load sometimes, but the other features are reliable (they lag sometimes tho).
That really sucks sometimes, especially when you want to make a screenshot of it for your blog post!
Yeah, that histogram is not the only feature... There are other very neat and useful features as well
