Steem evolves into SMTs and amassing distributed value

in #steem5 years ago

Back at the hospital today for my infusion treatment and, a couple of pleasant surprises. Firstly, normally I would have to be here for an hour extra after the infusion ends because there is a risk of allergic reaction. However, the protocol has changed now as they have discovered that if there are reactions to the treatment, they will be seen during the treatment itself. This is the thing with the newer and more experimental of treatments, they are trial and error to some degree. This isn't so experimental of course but it hasn't been used for so long in Finland in this way.

I am just happy I can leave here a little sooner.

The second surprise is that one of the projects I have been resourced to be working on has had its schedule brought forward which means I can get started earlier than expected on it. This is good news for me as I would rather concentrate on the project and the training side of my work more than the admin sides. There will be plenty of paperwork to do as always and I am guess, a lot of meetings.

The company I work for is moving from the first 10 years of the start up phase to the push into a truly global business and that has meant there is a lot of internal restructuring, reallocation of people, formulation of new positions, opportunities and a whole host of other aspects to bring departments and locations into a more coherent package. It is very interesting. Over the years, I have worked with several companies going through these changes and there is often a consolidation of people as it isn't suitable for everyone.

We can actually see the same thing on Steem when many early accounts are unable to adjust for the changes in the platform and feel that Steem has "lost something" when others see it as a maturing. If you think about the growth of a child into a teen and then into an adult, there is a constant loss of who the person was a moment ago and I see Steem and the entire surrounding industry and ecosystem in the same way. It is all evolving and in a decentralized environment that encourages personal responsibility and independent action, it is near unstoppable.

The ability to move with the times so to speak means that users who are interested in having a long-term view are willing to keep learning and growing their knowledge base and skillset. Those that do will have a veritable smorgasbord of opportunity open up to them in the coming years as the world starts to adopt the new technologies. There are going to be all kinds of jobs created in a similar way to the explosion of IT positions over the last 20 odd years. Combine that with the social media job explosion and there is going to be new opportunity for those who are able to understand the latest tech and, how to leverage it.

When it comes to content creation and creators alone though, if someone is looking to get support and maintain support for a steady stream of income, that means developing content that appeals to users of the attention economy. That is no easy task for a long-term position as it means constantly staying ahead of the curve on the latest trends and being good enough with them to appeal to a suitably large or valuable cross-section of the audience. On Steem of course, someone who holds stake in the POS system has less need to constantly shift with the times as the stake itself is a foundational tool that commands a certain amount of attention and value.

I was thinking about the future value of Steem a little as I drove to the hospital today and of course, it is going to get to a point that the pool is unable to adequately support enough people directly but, that doesn't mean people shouldn't take part in Steem. Through the secondary tokenization of the Blockchain through SMTs, the holders of Steem can use their stake to further grow the ecosystem outward and new users who are more interested and capable on the application-centric SMTs will be able to add value to the SMT, which in turn adds value to Steem.

The tokenization of all kinds of areas will continue and SMTs and Steem-based tokens will continue to spiral outward from the Blockchain to create a network that leverages the Steem Blockchain, even if users of the application do not realize the infrastructure that empowers their interaction. this is part of the decentralization of Steem where the SMT applications work independently of the Steem-direct apps, with their own rules, communities and streams of information that have close to no connection to what is seen on Steem currently.

It is very exciting in my opinion and I am looking forward to what kinds of things independent people and teams will develop to leverage the Blockchain considering that currently it is moving fast and there is actually very few users in the entire industry. What happens when there are 10,000,000 developers and media professionals with their respective ideas and companies working on the Blockchains globally? It is going to get hectic and rather than the wild west of crypto trading, it is going to be the wild west of content delivery and Blockchain innovation.

There are going to be literally millions of use cases arriving that are going to leverage the Blockchain tech, the tokens and the IoT capabilities to integrate and provide a host of new interactions into the digital and most likely, crossover into our analogue lives more and more.

The world is full of opportunity but very rarely does it fall in the lap of people unless they are prepared to receive it and apply what they know to add their own value to the evolution of the world. The reason humans have been so successful as a species is because we have been able to communicate well, we can share complex information across millennia with more than just through the genetic code as a substrate. The internet drove the capability to spread further, faster and blockchains and tokens will improve the ability to drive it further again.

As said, it is pretty exciting where it could go and more so as there is a lot of uncertainty in where it will go but, participation in the process is likely going to be a must and, also a benefit for those who embrace the change rather than resist it. At the very least, one must have enough understanding of it all to be well involved in the conversation.

This is an opt-in platform, it also doesn't restrict the option to opt out.

The treatment has finished and I can go shortly but, the nurse just said that my blood pressure is higher than it was an hour ago, but my pulse is calmer.

I have no time for these people. I have unfollowed all of the 2016'ers who have fallen by the wayside and are now complaining, wailing and hollering how Steem is now ruined. I will continue to ignore those who behave in this manner. It's only human that some people who are accustomed to privilege will complain loudly when it ends. But there is no other way but to adapt and overcome. The enormous potential of this platform is has begun to unfold. The best thing about Steem is that unlike in centrally controlled corporations, the future of Steem is not dependent on a single organization any longer. Steemit Inc is going to survive and the delay in rolling out SMTs is no longer an issue with Steem-Engine. The ecosystem can survive and thrive even without them. I see Steem as much less risky an investment than investing in some single company worth $150 million.

I need to check your un-follows, I think we may well have a lot in common :D

. I see Steem as much less risky an investment than investing in some single company worth $150 million.

I agree and the more it distributes across points, the more stable it becomes. Investing into steem is similar to investing into an index except, it is an index of startups yet to be established. Pretty unique.

I have been one to always never enjoy change but am always adapting to it and have found that as long as you arr part of the process, it provides great opportunities of growth and learning. However, being someone on the outside looking in is much tougher in these scenario and surely leads to some loss of motivation. It is often up to ourselves to push boundaries and even reinvent ourselves to get to the next step and I think that is what we will be looking at in Steem.

Even in Steem people who came in a year ago think they "missed out" on the opportunity. As you know, tht is far from the truth of it.

It is often up to ourselves to push boundaries and even reinvent ourselves to get to the next step and I think that is what we will be looking at in Steem.

What is cool about Steem is it is in a constant state of reinvention whereas an individual business would have to make grand changes at enormous cost and risk.

You need to evolve and adapt to new change and ideas. The samething is happening at the moment!

The world is in a state of constant change, sometimes faster, sometimes slower but, never still.

Would decentralizing my attention be possible in a beneficial way, that's what I'm trying to learn these months.

You have to be focused versus you have to be present everywhere...

I think that finding the parts where you want to spend your attention is important. many of the applications will be narrow niches that support core interests, whole others might be more general in nature.

Personally, I prefer the niche type usually with some time spent in general to keep an eye on what is going on. I am not someone who spends time consuming YouTube unless I have a need for a specific type of content though.

My problem in life - too many things are of great interest to me.

So step one has been observing and reporting them, showing and kerping visual archives. Instead of participating directly, which takes more time and devotion.

The struggle is real bit it is better to have too many interests than too few. Growing up I never had anything I was truly interested in, that has changed as I started creating for myself rather than consuming.

Yeah, I am trying to convince myself that some structure will come. If I build it, that is. To make time frames for various interests which would limit others.

About this smt, i have been waiting for this smt for some months now. Has the idea been destroyed?

What do you mean destroyed? Not at all.

I hope your next couple days are better than the past infusions were . Necessary evil that we have to go through.
There is movement in the crypto world that we have not seen in months. A lot of changes and building
