Why Do I Always Talk About Money When Referring To STEEM????

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Someone posted a comment on one of my posts talking about the focusing upon money on the STEEM blockchain and that there are people here just to interact and could care less about money.

That is fair enough.

I am sure plenty of people are on here to enjoy the content created, create some themselves, and interact with a community.

That said, there is one basic fact that cannot be overlooked...

Social media is money...big money.

Facebook, Reddit, YouTube and others are worth billions. For each person socializing, someone is making bank. For most of the companies, it is a few key players along with Wall Street.

The STEEM blockchain is a disruptive force. It is not a traditional social media entity. Nevertheless, it is social media which means money. The major difference is who gets paid.

I often write about the Age of Abundance. It is an Era we are entering. The challenge is that we still operate, for the most part, in a scarcity based world that enslaves the largest portion of humanity. To ignore the monetary component is missing the biggest weapon that is used against the masses. Abundance in this system is enjoyed by the relatively few while the rest are left to suffer. While some economic systems might fare a bit better than others, at the end of the day, the system creates extreme inequality. I believe that was the intention from the start but that is another discussion altogether.

STEEM is a path out of slavery. People are being paid for taking the same action on other social media sites. The difference is on STEEM, they earn something for it. Someone who has a couple hundred SP earned about $750 which is more than most people earn on any of the social media sites.

Money does not solve all problems nor is it the solution to all that ails humanity. However, when you have billions of people mired in complete and total poverty, the lack of money has a horrific impact. Even a few extra dollars a week to people in this situation can make a radical difference.

Cryptocurrency did something that was not done for thousands of years. It took the creation of money from the hands of a few and put it in the hands of many. This is why we see the attacks from the banking establishment and its cronies. They understand the threat that cryptocurrency poses to the existing monetary system which is favors only the select few.

So when I talk about the potential of STEEM, I am referring to freedom. Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, where someone has to bring fiat to the table, STEEM can be acquired through action. We see this already with those members from third world nations who are using this platform to improve their lives.

It is great that people have the luxury of coming on here and just being social. They are wanted here and an important part of the community.

However, there are many I came across that survive on the STEEM they get. A lot of these people are taking out what they need while leaving in a small amount to catch some appreciation. They are trying to balance present needs with growing future wealth. STEEM provides that opportunity to people.

When people are mired in debt or live in total poverty, money is hope. The present system creates an atmosphere of hopelessness. People are continually beaten into the ground by a system in which they only get further behind. Even those who are not walking that tightrope find themselves stuck in situations they cannot stand.

Studies show that somewhere between 85%-90% of people in Western Countries cannot stand their jobs. Here people spend a large portion of their waking lives doing something just to bring home some money. What is really sad is that, according to reports, most people will have little to live on when they "retire" from their jobs (at least in the United States).

Cryptocurrencies like STEEM offer an option. While most are not to the point where they can simply leave their present situation, there is the possibility that, in the future, life will be better because of the money provided by STEEM.

So while some might think focusing upon money in posts is a waste, the reality of the situation is we cannot escape a monetary system. Until replicators and carbon nanotube technology get to the point where we can create physical necessities out of thin air, this will be the case.

STEEM, along with other cryptocurrencies, offer hope and freedom. It is a path out of the system the elite control and profit from.

And if I can instill hope in some people about the possibilities offered here, then that is what is needed.

Of course, if one prefers not to read about money, there are plenty of other articles on here that he or she can focus upon. That is another great aspect of STEEM, there are plenty of options.

Social media is money...big money.

And the Steem blockchain is capable of so much more than simply monetizing social media. I want to create video games on the blockchain. I want people to get paid to help develop and play video games. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

The new mantra of the blockchain is going to be:

Quit your crappy job that you hate, and come get paid to do something that you were going to do anyway.

It feels like a very win-win situation.

Do you know another great thing about Steem? is freedom, here you can talk about anything, and if you want to talk about Steem as money, what is the problem? I think there are many people wanting to control what others say or stop saying.

thanks for this post.
you really understood what possibilities steem offers. I hope that the number of social projects on Steem will increase and large communities will form that can influence world events

Steem on my friend , time to keep the rally going ahead again in May !

The first time I checked the steemit page, I remembered I saw a video and that steemians says something like yours:

STEEM is a path out of slavery. People are being paid for taking the same action on other social media sites. The difference is on STEEM, they earn something for it.

THAT's the most big true here, and that was what make me try to do something here. It's true, here you can earn something doing the same. And, most of the time people here will help you to improve in what you are doing, that's the spirit that keep me here, trying to be better day after day. There's a lot to learn, to understand and to enjoy.

Totally agree with you.

And Hey! yes, the cents I've made here on each post has helping me a lot, since I live in a third world country, so... also true.

;) have a blessed day

Well said. The attention economy has begun and we already see the potential of similar cryptos like BAT and VIT can do within their respective markets. Exciting times indeed.

Agreed it is not all about money but if one can get paid for doing something they enjoy (being social) then it should be welcomed. Not everyone here has the benefit of being in a country with stable currencies or careers so if STEEM can provide that, even better. If you do not care about the money, and only care about the social aspect, nothing deters you from donating the cryptocurrency to other causes. I have seen many communities here on Steemit willing to help others in need.

always appreciate your realistic yet hopeful and visionary outlook. when i see how much the social media companies make off of our backs... and how much i've been able to earn here in a little over 4 months-- ~$6,000 give or take the steem price... i never got 1 penny in all my years on facebook or instagram, no matter how many followers i have... now this is revolutionary and can help people like me who don't want a normal job (i don't have one). i believe in the age of abundance. i'm aligning with cycles of the earth in plants too to achieve this. cryptocurrencies mirror a lot of our natural systems in that they produce thriving and abundant economies (think of so many seeds produced from one plant) instead of scarcity and "broke"-ness... of so many of our "normal economies" -- these aren't normal- they're someone making a buck off of us!!

Definately, here's to hoping! Love your positive outlook. 💚💙💜

"Until replicators and carbon nanotube technology get to the point where we can create physical necessities out of thin air, this will be the case."

I have a fear that the rich will artificially restrict access to this tech in order to keep their elevated position in society. Oh...was this not the point of the post?
