Publicly Available Steem

This isn't an article so much as a question to the community and hopefully someone will know the answer.

Will Steem ever be available publicly? Or will people have to forever buy in "matroska" style through Etherium or Bitcoin?

As for me, Steem isn't a real crypto currency until you can buy it with US dollars (or Euros etc.).

I think they were too late to affect the payout, but whatever.

Did they not like my question? Or that I used one whole bot in hopes that someone might actually see the question. Which, of course, it did nothing, but that's Steemit and why I rarely check in these days...
