Hello Steemians

As you may have noticed in the footer of my posts I support @blockbrothers for their efforts as a Witness and a great development team on steemit, but what is it exactly what they do?

Besides their 'job' as a witness, which they do excellent, they are the developers of @Steemify.

Steemify

Like the picture says, Steemify is a app (for now only available on Apple, but Android is on the way) for notifications on the Steem Blockchain. I am in the lucky position to already being able to test the Beta Android version, and I can tell you it works like a charm.

You can 'follow' any action of any steemit user realtime, that means that you can follow:

• When someone you follow publishes a post
• When someone comments on your or other peoples post
• When someone transfers steem to you
• When someone starts or stops following you
• When......unlimited options...

As some of you may have exeperienced too it can be hard to keep up with all the posts of the people you engaged with on Steemit. Steemify solves that problem because now you can see in a glimp who has posted, commented or resteemed a post. It saves time, but most of all (for me) it avoids missing out on steemit friends..

So do your self a favor and try the app (if you use apple of course) you won't regret it...

Witness

All Steem witnesses run a node(s). These nodes together are responsible for the consistency and continuity of the Steem blockchain. They are choses by the community to 'witness' the production of blocks on the Steem blockchain. So they run and maintain the nodes, which are actually servers, that generate the blocks with all the transactions.

Transactions are all the actions we do on the Steem blockchain like upvoting, posting ans commenting

Without the efforts of Witnesses like @blockbrothers there would not be a Steem blockchain. Therefore it is important to maintain a good list of witnesses with a good reputation. One way to control this is the witness list. Every Steemian can vote for 30 witnesses of can give a proxy their votes.
The proxy then divides the votes among the witnesses of which the proxy supplier thinks are in the most interest of Steem. I have proxied my votes to @blockbrothers because of the fact they are a reliable projectgroup with a great vision and trust in the Steem blockchain, prove (for instance) are the inspiring vlog's of @exyle .

Should I vote for witnesses?

That is totally up to you, it is no obligation. I see it the same as in politic-voting. If you aren't voting then you have no right of speech. You get 30 votes, use them wiseley and vote on Witnesses that you know, or want to know. And if you really don't have a clue you can let a proxy vote for you..
