Steem - Is it fundamentally superior to Bitcoin?
The utility of Steem blockchain is diverse in possibilities for application creation. Is this important globally? I believe it is. It's a way to connect everyone to a global money system that requires minimal investment. "investment" can be in time or money. It really taps into communication.
Isn't money at it's core a point of "communication"?
Wouldn't it make sense to have a money system that taps into a variety of methods/application that are focused upon open source communications?
If you really think about it - aligning the money system with individual communications and sharing is a Giving Economy. Reciprocal Economics of Sorts. From survival based living to Expression based Thriving. It's indeed something different in a lot of ways - and it does open up a lot of questions as to the specifics of how this transformation can practically unfold. It's a sort of chicken and the egg thing....where it's like "where do you start"...and "how do you know for sure". And if we really look at these two points - it's kind of funny really - because you can start here on steemit.com. or busy.org...or a number of other steem blockchain applications.
The challenge of sorts is to actually walk a process of investigation/exploration/experimentation and document the process story and journey here. I mean really it's a sort of simple thing. The world is a party of sorts and everyone is invited. it's kind of like a tribe like thing and there can be specific tribes for specific things and that is cool in and of itself.
Changing the nature of Education systems of institutionalization: Open sourcing Education is the future here today. Knowledge and information has been controlled and regulated extensively so to the detriment of all humanity. With the tools here today - change is indeed possible. Some of the best innovators result from having a supportive environment to play and experiment with self-interests. It's a fascinating thing how the support of one's environment plays an integral role in any individual's self-development
Low Barrier to Participation:
It's tough to participate in bitcoin network in comparison to STEEM.
Everyone is a creator and innovator. Our very word and world relationships are our individual artistry here. These are gifts worth sharing. This in turn changes the nature of first trying to "get" before "giving" and sharing what we got to give. It's indeed a shift from a fear of survival based way of living.
Efficiency and Effectiveness. Steem Blockchain is an evolution of the Bitcoin blockchain. It is more responsible in it's structuring and accountability of resources required to operate and function effectively.

Interesting post. I'm of the opinion that you can't really compare the two as they serve two different functions essentially.
Bitcoin as a strictly monetary function where it is used to facilitate transactions. Whereas Steem is monetary as well, but it serves a different purpose by awarding content creators. It's primary function isn't money exactly.
Hard to explain what I'm thinking in my head. But, that's as close as I can get.
forgot to mention: The "rewarding content creators" - Is a Community distribution of funds - Basically instead of giving all the mining rewards to miners - the bulk of the funds is distributed amongst the community content creators.
Bitcoin burns a huge amount of electricity to power the network...well the miners do. It's not very efficient in that regard...and the costs do not equate to such added levels of security as a result of the electricity costs. The huge costs of running the bitcoin blockchain were known by creator of Steem and it made more sense to give more value to more people by having/creating a better distribution of resources.
Interesting perspective. I hear you. The views you express, i also shared as my initial thinking and logic about Bitcoin and Steem.
What I am somewhat newly considering and challenging myself upon...questioning really is this:
Steem and bitcoin are both money. (loose definition and kind of slang paraphrase). More correctly defined they are cryptocurrency.
Steem can do what bitcoin can do....but faster.
Bitcoin cannot do what Steem is capable of doing. (at least as far as I am aware.)
Steem Addresses/Accounts are more user friendly than Bitcoin.
Steem dapps incentivize user participation.
Steem is free to move funds anywhere in the world. Bitcoin has multiple groups of people competing against one another to try and monopolize high fees as part of it's economic model.
Steem consensus versus bitcoin consensus.
Steem is more balanced in decentralization....could call this more decentralized.
Governance process of reaching consensus is much more efficient and effective on Steem Blockchain...and greater opportunity for the average user to participate in giving their vote.
Bitcoin has more commercial use....merchant acceptance at the moment.
Steem applications are the new world broadcasting networks. News and Information is money.
