Earlier I had posted some reviews for awesome mobile apps to access Steem blockchain from mobile phone like eSteem & bSteem. Today, I want to warn you from downloading some apparently illegitimate or crap apps, that can damage your Steeming experience and even jeopardize your account security.

Steemit Lite

Only last month, this app was updated on Google Play store for Android users. What shocked me visiting this app was that it uses the official "Steemit" name in its name. Not only that, it has also used official Steemit logo with slight modification. This raised enough red flags for me. So I checked the reviews. There were only 11 reviews posted and in all 24 people have rated it so far, with an average rating of 3.4. The top 3 reviews said it all:

Complete garbage. just a webview with tons of ads.

3rd class app. Dislike it.

Adds straight in your face. Scrap !!!

The app is being offered by AppsPirates. When I visited their website it created an impression like they have developed several Android & iOS apps. But when I tried to dig dipper, none of their website page was functional and had no data about any of their apps, blog or videos. Even their facebook page seemed to have been removed.

This app serves a lot of advertisements to you which is not revealed in app description.

I'd like to warn you from staying away from this app.

Steemit-Lite

This is yet another app with a very similar name as the above one. This has been updated on Google Play store just 4 days back. It also uses the Steemit's official name and logo with slight modification and this can't be said a legitimate way to business. Like the above app, this app too have a very poorly written app description in a sub-standard English.

This app clearly mentions that it stores your account password. But gives no reasons for a user to trust them with their account password. With only 4 reviews and ratings available and only 5+ downloads of this app, there is not enough credentials to even make me download it for testing purpose.

I would rather choose to click on "Flag as inappropriate" button without even bothering to download and test such apps.

None of these apps have any innovative or additional features apart from helping its developers to make money or get ownership of your account keys. If you are really looking for a decent and functional mobile app to access Steem blockchain, you should either go for eSteem or bSteemapp, IMHO.
