1. Browser-based Version

Microsoft offers most of their office products for free, however they are slightly limited which wont get in the way of most causally users like students. However may affect user who rely heavily on features such as auto save or the ability to create cover pages. In conclusion if you are looking for a stripped down free version of Microsoft's utilities this option is perfect for you.    

2. Mobile Apps

This next option is for users who wish to sync their phones with their computers. If you have an iPhone, Android or Windows phone you can download the free app and login into the same account you use on your computer, once you do this all your files should be visible and accessible. Similarly to the browser-based version this alternative will not have the same capabilities as the desktop application, so keep this in mind.

3. Office 365 Trial

If you feel as if you need all the features that you are missing with the previous alternatives but you are not sure if this price for the full desktop application is justified, why not consider downloading the free 30 day trial. You will have plenty of time to use and decide whether you need all the features in comparison to the free browser-based option. Keep in mind that you will need a credit card to apply for the trial, however you can cancel the trial at any time before the 30 days. If you don't cancel, your card will be charged every month.

4. Ask Employer or School

If you are a student or a worker why not ask your school or employer for a copy of Microsoft Office, chances are they will provide you with a free or very cheap license. This is because they buy licenses in bulk resulting a significant decrease in cost per license. With this option you don't have to worry about any limitations, so if this applies to your circumstances I highly recommend trying this.     

5. By Hardware Devices With Office Bundle

Lastly if none of the previous alternatives interest you, next time when you buy a hardware device like a laptop, tablet or computer why not pay a little extra for an Office bundle. Similarly to the previous option hardware manufactures buy licenses in bulk meaning that they can sell it to you at a very low price. Sometime you wont even need to pay any extra price, you can find devices that come with an Office bundle but does not come with the added price.   

Lastly if all else fails you can pay for the full version, for the value you will revive I think it is worth it, plus the Office 365 personal version is only $70 dollars and can be paid monthly.
