Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Still Going Strong
We are up to seven pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, or @sbi7. We currently have over 2700 members that have posted within the last 28 days, and many more members that have not. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 18730 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.
Delegation Bonus Shares
Existing members can receive bonus shares from delegation. For every 20 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus share. These bonus shares will be removed if the delegation is withdrawn. Currently the average weekly voting value per share is 0.0184 (UI value). Of course, that is subject to variations in the price of STEEM.
All pool accounts are managed to target multiples (e.g. 200 shares ~ 400 SP, 500 shares ~1000 SP, etc.) For this reason we ask that members that are delegating for bonus shares always delegate to pool 1 (@steembasicincome) and we will manage the SP flow into the lower pools appropriately. If you want to fill SP orders through minnowbooster's market, you are of course welcome to fill the orders going to lower pools.
Please do not combine filling orders for pool 1 (@steembasicincome) with delegating for bonus shares.

Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus shares. If you are not already a member but would like to delegate, please send an enrollment transaction to @steembasicincome and we will add your bonus shares at the time we process your enrollment.

Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accepting SBD. Enrollments are still processed manually and may take 3-4 days.

This initiatives looks great, but there is one HUGE concern:
If tommorrow (or two years later) you simple will say: "that's it, we got your money, fools" or maybe just "we are bored and not interested to support this project anymore" no one can punish you or get SP back. Anyone participating mus have 100% trust in you. But we even don't know who you are!
How can a sane person give an actual money for just a pretty words?
UPD: you have no answer for such an important question in your FAQ of "whitepapper". Please add it there. Credibility is much more important than a complicated schemes of shares distribution. What use will have thous shares if project can't be trusted in a first place?
These are fair points, and one reason why we've structured so that a member could enroll for only 1 STEEM and then increase their participation through delegation instead of further increasing their shares.
We do have a formal refund policy that applies to any material program changes (and closing the program would be a material change) that is detailed in the Complete Overview. It's too late to change the FAQ post, but we will include more contact information when we announce our website (coming soon).

I want to trust you, and maybe even will get some shares, cos it's a good deal... it's just a pity that you can't do a trust-less, decentralized system for this project ((
I have been investigating the possibility of doing an SMT in order to support a trust-less decentralized system.
Since HF 20 has not even been released, that's not our immediate development priority. Anyone 'pre-selling' an SMT before the code support for them has been added to the blockchain protocol should be treated with extreme skepticism... especially if the pre-sale is using STEEM or SBD and not an ERC20 or other token that would convert into the SMT after launch.
Have a look at the video's they have posted. They give thw names of those involved. If they simply ran off then they would be found.
Other than that what trust do you give bots, or even in the whole steemit system. You have to trust a little at some point. They have prooved themselves to be trustworthy and will continue to do so.
Why would you screw over a good system that benifits everyone involved, including those managing it.
I trust him alot more than a self upvoter. I have invested with them for 3 months now & get $2.50+ in upvotes daily from them.
Hm? Where is a logic?
First of all, self upvote is 100% transperent - I'm doing nothing prohibited by this blockchain, and doing it openly.
But even then... I don't ask you to send me 1 SBD or something, do not try to make some trusted deal with you. So I do not need your trust anyways.
But SBI needs trust of their peers, cos they getting real money for a far-reaching promises, with no way to force refund in a case if these promises are broken in any manner.
Ergo: my question is a good question, even in case I'm myself is a totally malicious person with a bad intentions. True?
Wait until you see what they tell ME, I'm pretty skeptical, based on past results.
I run a community voter bot and I get very little bad feedback, and it's none once I 'Splain hpw to verify the incoming votes ;)

I've had a bad impression of SBI for a long time,
BUT I AM RECEIVING HELP to figure it out.
Thanks @josephsavage for the verification and I have a trusted member of my own Discord #minnowbootcamp who independently verified the info, he can help me figure out the rest. I am happy to see that SBI is fulfilling their mission, I just seem to need to figure out what to look for and then when, how and why. Still looks overly complicated, but I am a Master of Simplicity ;) I run my system under K.I.S.S. Theory and the recipients can even understand it!
But I also see the need for the complexity here.

Believe it or not, we have tried to keep it simple. There is a balance between constraints and incentives.
As we designed the system, we identified each of the constraints and potential power leaks and built in the appropriate safeguards. That created levels of complexity, but it works pretty well even though hard to understand.
The most common 'complaint' we receive is when people double or triple their posting frequency to take advantage of what they think are consistent 'per-post' upvotes, and then they are shocked to see that we adjust to their posting frequency change to prevent them from robbing SP from the other members.
I think the worst I saw when somebody complained about their upvote value dropping and demanded explanation, their posting frequency had increased by more than 10x.
Most people that join to try to take advantage of our system don't have staying power when they learn that it's designed to prevent that, and they go completely inactive on Steem when they learn that it's not a get-rich-quick scheme.

Share count determines weekly value, but your own posting frequency will decide how much that results in each post.
