THE ONLY WISE GOD

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small,
in all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render, O help us to see
'tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!

THOUGHT

Walter C. Smith based this text on 1 Timothy 1: 17: "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever is a strong text of praise to God, who created and sustains the lives of all his creatures. The text focuses on the Creator of the universe, the invisible God whose visible works in nature testify to his glory and majesty. "Light" is the prevailing image in stanzas 1, 2, and 4 ( Ps. 104:2); our inability to see God is not because of insufficient light but because the "splendor of light hides [God] from view.

The Light is the make up of God, it is the revelation of his LIFE- Who He is.

CREATOR BUT NOT CREATED

This our God is a creator of all things yet no one created Him. He's self-existing. Because of His love towards us, He brought the immortality to light by sending forth Jesus to redeem us by His precious blood. Now He has made us to be priest and king to His Father. Rev 1:6. This is our testimony that, we are translated from the region of darkness to the kingdom of his dear SON, bounded but now set free. He does this to express Himself as the only WISE GOD. As we are cerebrating this season of Easter,Let's be conscious of our ROYALTY: We are sanctified, consecrated, purified, justified, born again and a NEW CREATION.
