The oil that a Shepherd uses to anoint his sheep is a special oil and is not for cooking. It is an oil that contains a mixture of herbs and medicinal species and he uses it when one of his sheep has been hurt or injured. In addition, before going through a field with very tall grass, the Shepherd puts oil to all his sheep, so that no insect gets on their wool. It is used as a repellent.

The Lord wants to heal your wounds, wants to cleanse your life of the "insects" that have gotten into your "wool", wants to fill your life with blessings, wants you to be part of his flock, to keep you safe and healthy in his Presence.

There is no other place where you can find healing and abundant blessing for your life. There is no other place where they offer you security and an effective "repellent" for those who want to hurt you. Only in the arms of the good Shepherd is there wisdom and great love. Come to HIM.

In the New Testament, both the anointing and the oil are typologies of the Holy Spirit. Both the one and the other are different, since the anointing is the action or function of consecrating someone, and the oil is representative of the seal of God.

The Lord was anointed by the same Father, through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he walked doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him."

Psalm 23 gives us a promise in the present tense. That of being anointed and overflowing in that anointing of the Spirit of God. This means that the anointing is for this time, for today, it was not for yesterday, and God wants us to overflow with His glory.

Acts 11: 15-16 "And when I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them also, as on us at the beginning." 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said, when he said, "John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. "

The promise of the Lord, is that we will be baptized, under an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And for the Lord it will be a pleasure that the anointing we receive from Him will be spilled without being stopped by anyone or anything.

God knows that the filling of the Holy Spirit on his children is not enough once, it is necessary that our cup be overflowing.
