GROWING UP SPIRITUALLY
A quick look at the scripture shows the place of the word in the spiritual growth of the Christian. I will liken the word of God to what protein does to the body, it helps in body building. The word of God does the same to our spirit, it helps fatten us and builds us into that person God wants us to be. That is why we must give the word attention.
We spend so much time nurturing our bodies to look good. We want to look good and healthy and that's why such attention is placed on our bodies. The same applies to our spirit. Spend time studying the word, it requires time, we know the time that works for us whether morning or night.
Approach the word hungry asking the Holy Spirit to teach us. There is no end to how much of the word we will and can know. He is willing to teach you than you are open to learn.
WAYS OF GROWING SPIRITUALLY
Most times, we think that after submitting or giving our lives to Christ that is just the end, but of a truth just like Apostle Paul said that
We should work out our salvation daily with fear and trembling.
Listed below are the ways to which as a believer or children of God we are to grow spiritually.
1. GIVE THE WORD ITS PLACE
Only when we have seen reasons to hunger and thirsty for Him, only when we've open our hearts to receive the word with a cheerful heart there and only can or will the word find a place in our lives.
2. FASTING
One of the surest way to grow spiritually is to spend time in fasting. Fasting is actually an activity car. Fasting is actually an activity carried out to deprive one's self of certain pleasures. These includes foods, habits and addiction. The flesh will always war against the spirit but we must put it under subjection through fasting. Declaring a fast requires you tuning yourself to God's frequency via studying the word of God and praying.
You are making your spirit lord over flesh.
3. KNOWLEDGE
The knowledge referred to here is information gathered from good Christian materials. Its of utmost importance that we get materials like books, tapes, messages, podcasts and teachings from sound men and women of God.
Accurate knowledge fattens our spirit.
As we spend time with these Christian literature, we acquire knowledge and access insights into what God has taught the writers.
4. PRAYER
Prayer is a fellowship, communication with God our father. It is a time of communion with God which should be nurtured with jealousy. It can be done at any time based on convenience, but it should be consistent. We could also spend time worshiping God, it grows our spiritual muscles.

Lord, I am hungry for your word, fill me
