Accountability in the life of God's steward

Good day to you all ladies and gentlemen. Today I'm going to be talking about accountability in the life of God's steward.

Let me start by saying all we are and all we have are given to us by God for our enjoyment and to bring Him glory here on earth. We are God's stewards and all stewards must one day give account of their stewardship to God of how they have used what the Lord has entrusted to their care.

Romans 14:10-12 (NIV)
10 You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.
11 It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Matthew 25:19-30 (NIV)
19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’
23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?
27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.
29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

From the two bible passages above, we should not that:

• Nobody will be exempted from giving account to God
• Each person will give account of himself and all that have been committed unto them
• We will all give account of the ways we have used things like our bodies, time, money and riches, spiritual gifts and the gospel of Christ.
• Good and faithful servants will be rewarded, they will receive praise from their master, receive greater responsibilities and share in the joy of their master.
• Wicked stewards will receive the condemnation from their master, they will loss what they have and be sent away from the Master's presence.

What does it mean to be a good and faithful steward?

1. It means you do what the Lord expects from you in the way and manna he wants you to do it.
2. It means that you make the Lord happy with you.
3. It means that the Lord can depend on you and not be disappointed.

Here are some tips to be a good and faithful steward

• Be quick to discharge the assignment that has been given to you.
• Be wise in using your Master's resources
• Appreciate God for the gift and responsibility he has given to you.
• Do not compare yourself with another person.
• Avoid giving excuses.
• Live by faith and give no room to fear.
• Do not waste the Lords resources.
• Always remember that you will surely give account one day.

I pray we will share in the everlasting joy in Jesus name. Amen
