Chapter 3; the park experience
Annabel stopped at Nelson Mandela Avenue,it was a six hour journey from home then she thought of the great man " Mandela" who fought for the freedom of his people; he sacrificed himself for his people but her case was the opposite, she was fighting for her own freedom as far as she can remember she has been fighting for her freedom from childhood, no from birth
She was lonely, and the world is a cruel place.
The park was so crowded with people going to different destinations both sane and insane persons...,
She saw children begging, some hawking and some just looking for food to eat or where to lay their head.
The touts where oblivious of the world...
If I survive I survived ...
If I die...
I die..,
Collecting tokens from drivers,some selling tickets why some where just observing people that would be careless enough to drop anything on the floor or for a bag to snatch. Some where carrying loads for the travellers or makert sellers while some had formed a group round the newspaper stand and where arguing about everything and nothing. I looked at them wondered if they just wake up in the morning, dress and go to the park just to argue at the newspaper stand for hours. I wonder if they have wife or children at home or they were lonely like me.
Some where dresses so decently and i thought just maybe they have a destination but its almost noon and they are still arguing...
A particular boy caught my attention; he should be six...
He was nearly dressed but skinny too skinny his legs were dirty but not his clothes, he was carrying load... Loads bigger than him, when he was paid he gave the money to a shabby looking man.
Back to my reality ,the park made me to forget and I was becoming so drawn not until the owner of the bench I was seating on came for it; that's when I knew that it was already noon and the men at the newspaper stand where still arguing and by that time there was already a crowd there, I smiled
Different people...
Different problems...
