Teaching children to pray is one of the most important spiritual legacies that a Christian father or mother can leave to their children. With instruction and the example of parents, children can learn that God wants to communicate with them, that the Lord attends to their requests and that there is a power in prayer. From an early age, teaching him to pray to his children feeds the spiritual life of his children and will help them to form a solid relationship with Christ.

It is never too early to teach children to pray. Even before your children can talk, take the time to hug them, bless them and pray for them. When you are sick, do not hesitate to impose your hands and pray for the healing of your children.
(James 5: 14-15) The child should be allowed to lead a prayer and congratulate them in doing so. If possible, take the time to inquire and pray for the petitions together with your children, encourage your children to express their longings to God through prayer.

Share with your children testimonies like ANA that I pray for a son and GOD granted, tell them about the child that was resurrected when Elisha prayed or that five thousand people were fed when Jesus prayed to multiply the two fish and five loaves that a child offered.
If you want your children to be people who pray, be an example of someone who practices praying. We pray that God is loved and there is a genuine desire to nourish an intimate prayer with Jesus.

In the verse of Proverbs 22: 6 ... We find wise words, a counsel that helps to succeed in the education of children; "Train the child in his way, and even when he is old he will not turn away from him." What the Bible presents to us is that we must try to incorporate a balanced diet of instruction. We must be deliberate and spend time teaching our children the essential truths concerning God and His word, AND we must be careful that those truths are lived out through our lives. In this scripture, we are called as parents to teach our children about God through our words and deeds.

I contemplated that perhaps they needed training when it came to prayer. We certainly spend a lot of time teaching them how to put their clothes away, the toothpaste cap back on, and saying please and thank you. Scripture supports this idea of learning to pray. The disciples said in Luke 1:11b, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
