Can You trust the Bible

Many view the Bible simply as a book written by wise menof a bygone era. A university professor Gerald A. Larue , asserted " the views of the writers as expressed in the Bible reflect the ideas , beliefs and concept current in their own times and are limited by the extent of knowledge in those times" yet the Bible claims to be a book inspired by God.(2 Timothy 3:16)

As we consider this question ,keep in heart that with the progress of knowledge, humans constantly must keep adjusting their views to conform new discoveries and information.

Some believe that the earth was supported by four elephants standing on a big sea turtle was one of the speculation that went round when the Bible was written. "The Bible simply state , God is stretching out the north over the empty place, hanging the earth upon nothing" - job 26:7. A fact that it is in Harmony with the recent knowledge of motion and gravity.

The earliest image men had of the earth was that it was flat , the idea behind the spherical nature of the earth was not widely accepted until the Renaissance. However the Bible was not influenced by the erroneous , flat Earth view when it was written. It was accurate stated when the Bible said "there is one who is dwelling above the circle of the earth" Isaiah 40:22 . The Hebrew word "chugh" which means circle can also be translated as sphere.

There were many discoveries and knowledge that kept contradicting themselves but in it all, the Bible never did. Humans have long noted that the waters flow into sea and ocean yet do no increase in depth, later it was learned that the sun pump of thousands of million of water from the sea every second in form of water vapor, this produce cloud then result to rain and snow and the cycle repeat again and again. In ancient time ,the Bible spoke about it "Ecclesiastes 1:7" every river flows into the sea, but the sea is not yet full. The water returns to where the river began and start all over again

When evidence uncovered by science disagree with that scientist long believed regarding the origin of the universe, it confirmed what was written in the Bible millennium ago. In the days of Noah , the Bible record a great flood that covered Earth's highest mountains and destroyed all human life that was outside the huge ark that Noah built (Genesis 7: 1-24) .many scoffed at this account yet seashells are found in the mountains and further evidence that a flood immense proportion occur in the not too distant past is the great fossils and carcasses deposited in mucky dumps. The Bible gives the stages of creation in the very order science now confirms.

The Bible and health
Through out centuries,there have been large ignorance on matters of health. Many superstition are still believed by many yet no such statement is found in the Bible. It is also remarkable when one compares hazardous medical treatment used in the past with the Bible. The papyrus ebers , a medical document of the ancient Egyptians , prescribed the use of excrement to treat various conditions.
