The Real Sense Of Christmas

That's the time of year again and with December it all the joys of Christmas has come. The question is, what's the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the presents under the tree, the lights in the streets, nice cards, the typically dinners with family and friends, snowmen in the yard, stockings which hanging in the living room or shouts of "Merry Christmas" to anyone who pass us in the streets? Is that really Christmas?

For some people, Christmas is a time of sadness. They don't have enough money to buy gifts for their family, children and friends. There're people who're saddened at Christmastime when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for different reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish, but not a reality for these humans.

In fact, Christmas can be a season of great joy for us. It's a time of God showing His great love for us.
This can be a time of healing and renewed strength. You see, the sense of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the Christ child. Because God loved us so much, he sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to save all of us (John 3:16). His birth brought so much joy to the world. Shepherds, wise men, and angels too, all shared in the excitement of knowing about this wonderful event. All of them knew this was no ordinary baby. The prophets had told of His coming hundreds of years before it happened. The star stopped over Bethlehem just to mark the way for those ones who were looking for this special child.
