Worship That Glorifies God --- Devotional

God purposely created man to worship Him and placed this inclination in the heart of every human. When people choose not to worship their Maker, they- then- focus their devotions on someone or something else. This act has resulted in the establishment of the numerous religions world wide.

We, Christians, may assume that since our God is the God of the Bible, He is certainly pleased with our worship of Him. However, this is not always the case. The book of Hebrews chapter 9 makes reference to the old covenant, in which the Lord precisely instructed on how to approach Him. Even though we now have direct access to the Father through His Son- Jesus Christ- we still ought to be careful to worship Him in ways that glorify Him.

In order to worship God in truth, we must, therefore, shun the following pitfalls:

Inaccurate Knowledge of God
If we fashion God according to our own desires, then our worship becomes worthless. Hence, it is very essential to get to know the Lord better as He has reveals Himself to us through His Word.

Lip Service
When we set our hearts far away from God, we go through the routines of worship without actually meaning any of the stuff we say or sing.

Wrong Focus
When we simply attend church to satisfy emotional experience, we miss the point. Worship fundamentally is about honoring, adoring, and reverencing God with our whole being (our minds, wills, and hearts)

The book Psalm chapter 95 is a wonderful song of praise. However, the psalmist included a caution not to be like the Israelites when thy were in the wilderness: they erred in their hearts and did not know the ways of God (Psalm 95:10). Beloved, let us make it our higher priority to know God better so we can glorify Him in our worship
