KEEP THE LINE OPEN

Communication is a major aspect of human relationship. It is all about spreading understanding so that people can connect and live or work better together. Through communication, we resolve our differences, as well as express our love, care, and concerns for one another. To enjoy a healthy relationship with your spouse, children, siblings, friends, colleagues and other people, you must keep the line of communication with them open.

The proverb “silence is golden” may be a wise advice before making a judgment about another person, but it can be a costly mistake in human relationships. For instance, when you give your spouse a silent treatment, or avoid discussing sensitive issues with him in hopes of avoiding argument, you will actually be building resentment in your marriage.

“What we don’t talk about, we eventually act out”

Aside your family and others, you must open the line of communication with God. God knows the full impact of continuing communication; hence, He admonishes us to pray constantly, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). He promises to respond as we relate with Him intimately.

Communication with God is a two-way thing: God communicates with you and in turn, you communicate with Him, or vice versa. Though God communicates in various ways, He communicates today mainly through His word – the Bible. Some say that God is not a good communicator; how wrong they are! God is a Master communicator. He has communicated all you need to know about His person and activities and all you need to please Him in your life and conduct.

As God communicates with you through His word, He has set up prayer as a method of you getting back to Him. So, you have a private and direct line to Him. God hears and responds to everyone’s prayer at one time; He will answer you when you talk to him in prayer. However, prayer is not all about talking or conversing with God; it involves your body language as well.

Genesis 3:10 - And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Hebrews 11:4 - By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Hebrews 11:8 - By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

One of the most effective ways of communicating back to God is by actions or response to His communication. For God to answer your prayers, you must first and foremost be born again, live a consistent righteous and holy life, be obedient to His word, and say the prayer in faith.

In all things, keep the line of communication between you and God open. Never allow sin, negligence or much activity to hinder your communication with Him. Study His word and pray always, for “men ought to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). You must also keep the line of communication with your spouse, children, colleagues etc open. Find time and space to communicate with them frequently and effectively, and close any communication gap in your family.

God Bless You!
