"David fled from the city of Gath and went to the cave of Adulam, and when his brothers and his father's family heard about it, they went to find him, and all those who were in trouble, those in debt, and those in debt, joined him. discontented, and became their leader, there were about four hundred men with him "(1 Samuel 22.1,2).

When he was in Adulam's cave, fleeing Saul's pursuit, David welcomed some 400 men who were in disrepair. Indebted, bitter, oppressed and troubled, these men joined David in the cave. David became their leaders and made them became an army. Some became known as David's brave ones. Men who were more than an army, were loyal servants and loyal to David.

1 - What are the characteristics of a servant?

To learn to influence a person to be a servant of God.

It draws attention to observe that it was not in the palace that David forged these four men, but in a cave. The transformation of people does not depend on where they are, but on the leader who influences them. Many people are going through "caves" in the family, finances or relationships and do not notice that it is in this condition that God wants to mold us. If we want to generate servants, we need to understand that caves are not impediments, but opportunities for the formation of serfs. David did not expel them and he sent them to wait for when he arrived at the palace, he began his influence there.

For a servant to influence another person to be a servant of God, he needs to understand that the tribulation does not destroy, it produces. "Knowing that tribulation produces patience, patience experience, and experience hope" (Rm 5.3,4,5a). David had the tribulation of a bear and a lion who wanted to attack the sheep that he had in mind. He faced them and he won, that gave him experience. When he was in front of Goliath, he used the victories over the bear and the lion as a form of hope to defeat Goliath. Confront your tribulations with faith, they will generate in you patience and victories, those victories will be weapons of hope for challenges in the future.

To generate servants we need not only to prepare them for problems, but to direct them towards the correct target, which is God. It may seem obvious, but many people lost the direction of their service. They are doing for people and not for God. When they are criticized by others, they stop. When someone does not support, they resign. Now, if God has called us and we are his servants, only God has the authority to stop. David was persecuted by Saul, Joseph sold by his brothers, Paul stoned, Jesus betrayed by Judas, but none left the service he had of giving God to be influenced by the injustices of men. If your service does not have God as a focus, then, the injustices of men will stop you. In addition to letting tribulations mold and have God as focus, a servant of the Lord needs to understand that we serve God by serving men. David served his father taking care of his sheep. He served Saul by playing his harp. He took food to his brothers in battle. He served Saul as commander of his army. Some people believe that they give to serve God without serving their neighbor. However, they do not perceive that Jesus himself, to serve the will of God, died for men in obedience to the Father. No matter what you are doing, do your service to men understanding that God is the target. It is sad to see a generation that says it serves God, but does not wash a tableware for the mother. That accepts pulpits, but can not wash the church bathroom. A servant does what the Lord sends, because his life is not for himself, but for the one he calls the Lord.

Let God form through your caves. Do your service oriented to God, but never forget that it is serving the men who serve God.

Have the purpose of choosing to do something this week to serve someone.

Hi @lorennys

The church urgently needs leaders absolutely committed to the Kingdom of God. Men and women who want, in Christ, to spend their lives in the proclamation of the gospel of grace. May they use their profession to witness their faith in Christ. Holy leaders who invest their lives in the training of other people. May they be an ornament in the church training people to be similar to Jesus.

Hi Sister @lorennys, I liked this message, it is amazing how David prepared 400 men for the battle after being people who had many social problems.
