Be dressed in Christ

In order to clothe ourselves externally with Christ, it is first necessary to know Him interiorly. Christ must be received in the heart by faith, before he can manifest himself in life through holiness. To light up the lantern, you have to light the candle that is inside; then, without Effort, light spreads and enlightens men. My brothers, if you have received Christ,
never hide your love for him, and if you believe that he is the hope of glory (Col. 1:27), carry yourself in such a way that everyone can see that he is the glory of your hope. As the source of your inner life is hidden in Christ Jesus, that the purity of yours daily life also comes from him. Let the exterior and visible be inspired by the interior and the invisible, so that the world can not deny that you are a child of the day. It is not enough that it be Christ your food, the bread that the inner man sustains; it is also necessary that it be the dress that covers the outer man. "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ." Admirable expression! What condescension on the part of Master having allowed his apostle to use such language! Undoubtedly, Paul expressed the thought of the Holy Spirit. Hopefully the same Spirit will help us to understand his
true sense.

We all need a divine dress: such is the solemn truth that follows from this text. The apostle does not say: Try to live close to the Lord. Do not; he says: "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, "that is: May he be the dress of our life. A man takes his cane for the trip or his sword for war; Then, when he returns home, he leaves them. But the Christian in all time must be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ; and it must be in such a way coated with it, that be confused with Christ and that Christ be identified with his person. By accepting Christ as Salvador, the believer fulfills this exhortation in a partial sense. He is clothed with Christ as a mantle of justice. It is a very beautiful figure of the work or the office of faith. Faith
finds humanity in a state of shameful nakedness, and seeing that the justice of God in Christ is the mantle that he needs, he covers us with it. By faith, man covers his weakness with the strength of Christ, his sin with the atonement, his defects with perfection, his madness with the wisdom, his death with the life of Christ, his fluctuations with the constancy of Christ. By faith it can be said that man disappears in Christ Jesus, so that he is seen no more, but in Christ. The righteousness of God in Christ is not only imputed to us, but belongs to us,because Christ is ours. "By the obedience of
one, the many will be constituted righteous." Al believe the testimony of God about his Son, I am justified in front of him, although still Unfair by nature. The riches of God in Christ Jesus come to be mine from the moment in that I am made a child of God by faith in his name.

But the words that we are going to meditate do not refer to this matter, because the apostle, in this passage, it is not about the doctrine of justification but about sanctification. The exhortation that We study addresses those who are already justified and adopted children of God. It goes, then, to you, my brothers, that you have been washed by the blood of Christ and justified by his Grace. You must clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ every day, continually, to sanctification of your life and for the glory of God; in other words, so that the sanctity of Christ be reproduced in your daily conduct.
