The Faithful And True Friend

It means that once he was surrounded by friends, but, now, his life became a lonely ocean having been abandoned by the people who were part of his day to day life.

The reasons that led them to abandon you can be diverse. However, regardless of what has happened, nothing justifies the abandonment of those who were his friends at all times.

It is good to highlight that being abandoned by everyone at the time it is needed, is not exclusive to current days.

The apostle Paul left this truth in evidence by writing to Timothy saying:

"No one assisted me in my first defense, before all of them forsaken me, that this should not be imputed to them." (2 Timothy 4:16)

Note that Paul makes mention of having been abandoned by all, in the first hearing that implies his trial for having been imprisoned unjustly because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

However, despite having been abandoned due to the persecution of Christianity, Paul witnessed a friend who did not leave him saying:
"But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the preaching might be fulfilled, and all the Gentiles might hear it, and I was delivered from the mouth of the lion" (2 Timothy 4:17). - regardless of the circumstances - in contrast to verse 16, which reveals human infidelity, to leave the friend at the moment when the situation is difficult.

Keep in mind that in verse 17, Paul emphasizes Jesus' faithfulness

I tell you that once he was always accompanied by several people and that today he is abandoned by all, that Jesus Christ will never abandon him.
It was no coincidence that Paul told the church in Philippi that:. "The Lord is near" (Phil 4: 5)

The psalmist David, showed to be completely convinced of the possibility of having a relationship of pure friendship and communion with the Almighty God, to sing loudly and clearly, that "the Lord is close to those who have a broken heart, and save those in spirit. " (Psalm 34:18)

So there is no place for sadness, because Jesus is "the faithful friend of all times" who never abandons his. They believe that Jesus is close to you, because of what he can do as John, the beloved disciple, who laid his head on the breast of Jesus (Jo13: 23).

Only the friend of all hours, allows the other to lay his head on his chest. This friend called Jesus.

Therefore, no matter what problem you face, even if your friends who called themselves abandoned believers, Jesus Christ, "the wonder and faithful friend" is right next to you.

Remember the beloved apostle? Do it like him! Hill with your head on Jesus' chest, because, even if all of humanity away from you, Jesus will never turn away from you, because "The Lord is near" (Phil 4: 5); those who wait for him, because only He is the friend and faithful wonder.
