1 Corinthians 12:7
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

This topic is aimed at letting Christians know their true inheritance and have a clear understanding of their gifts, how they can be made operational and how they operate, also to know as a believer the day you give your life to Christ and declare him as your Lord and personal saviour, something has been deposited into your recreated spirit which have been inactive, reason is that they are not stirred up, for ignorance of their operations and disobedience to the word of God towards the manifestation of these gifts of the Spirit.

• WHY DOES CHRISTIANS NEED THESE AWARENESS?

1 Corinthians 12:1
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

Christians need a Scriptural teaching to have indept knowledge of the gifts of the Spirit before we can into these gifts of the Spirit and receive them, this right knowledge of spiritual gifts will guide us against evils that emanate as a result of wrong teaching and unscriptural experiences. With these awareness from the teaching we can now differentiate between genuine and counterfeit Spirit in their operations, this awareness is based on misconceptions that arises in our Churches these days, where some say the gifts of the Holy Spirit is confined to the Apostolic age and it is uncalled for and unscriptural in this present dispensation.
Note the Bible say "Quench not the Spirit" 1Thess 5:19 and "grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed into the day of redem" Eph 4:30.

As a believer, we are unleashed with unlimited Blessings and has been projected into the realm of the Spirit and also gifts of the Holy Spirit has be assigned into us.

• CATEGORIES OF THE GIFT OF THE SPIRIT TO A BELIEVER

1 Corinthians 12:28-30
-And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
-Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
-Have all the gifts of healing? do all

We can now understand from the scripture that these gifts of the Spirit are in diversities, that is they are different but all works towards a common goal which is edification of the body of Christ. These nine gifts of the Spirit can be classified into three categories, and these categories or grouping is based on their similarities and relationship in operations.

FIRST CATEGORY; The gift of revelation.
In this category, we have the gift of the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge and the discerning of Spirits. If you study these two critically, you can see the word of wisdom has a slight difference from the word of knowledge which is hardly noticed, words of knowledge deals with facts. Today, the church need gift of the word of wisdom in our decision making, just as it was in the Bible when King Solomon used wisdom.

1King 3:28
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

Knowledge is having the word inside you and discerning is knowing that which is of God.

SECOND CATEGORY; The gift of Power.
These includes the gift of faith, healing and working of miracles. These gifts of the Spirit in this group needs power and effort to make things happen. For example, the gift of faith, you need extraordinary faith to do exploits in the ministry, think of David over Goliath, Moses when he lead the Children of Israel across the red sea.

THIRD CATEGORY; Gift of inspiration, the gift of prophesy, the gifts of divers tongues and the gifts of interpretation of the tongue. These gifts come or manifest as a result of inspiration from God which operates in audible voice or vocal organs. When these gifts in this category are in operation, the Holy Spirit indwelling in a believer's life inspires him to speak as God reveals.

1 Corinthians 12:8-10
-For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
-To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
-To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.

• OPERATIONS OF THESE GIFTS TO A BELIEVER

These gifts of the Spirit as we have been told are group according to their relationship in operations for a common purpose in the same direction according to God's purpose for mankind. Starting with the gifts of the word of wisdom to the gifts of knowledge through the gifts of discerning, down to the gifts of prophecy and miracles, they are all supernatural revelations of God and it's manifestation as the end result in individual's life, the church body and our environment. Example of what we discussed earlier says knowledge is a raw fact that one get, while the gift of wisdom is the right application of the 'facts' knowledge to edify the body of Christ; the gifts of discerning in the entering into the realm of God in spirit to detect and identify them (2 Kings 2:11-12) this goes with the power to cast out devils and healing takes place, which also bring about the manifestation of prophecies and miracles.
Note, gifts of prophecy are superior to that tongue because prophecy build the body of Christ and encourage the Church.

1 Corinthians 14:2-4
-For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
-But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
-He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

• HOW TO IDENTIFY THE SPIRIT OF GOD AS A BELIEVER

The gifts of the Holy Spirit demonstrates the power of God among his people, he does not lie, it goes in conformity with the scripture. The Bible say 'Try the spirit whether they are of God. So why should we try the Spirit? This means you should examine them to know whether they are of God. For you to discern true revelations or prophecy.
Note, any revelation or prophecy that comes from God always sanctify the heart, there is always an encouragement and hope that follows it.

1 Corinthians 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

• HOW TO STIR-UP THESE GIFTS AS A BELIEVER

Spiritual gifts are mark of Christianity which is needed by every believer, before he/she can work rightly with God. For these gifts to manifest you need to stir them up, you must be recreated, separated, sanctified and consecrated. One may ask, how can one get these attribute as mentioned, it is very simple, make proper use of the fruit of the Spirit already in your recreated spirit; I.e Love, Giving, Mercy, Exhortation, Interceding etc.

Romans 12:6-8
-Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
-Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
-Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

CONCLUSION
These gifts of the Spirit to a believer are different from the natural talents and senses we acquire through Education and experience in our day to day living. But the gift of the Holy Spirit is the demonstration of the nature and power of God in the word by believers.
