2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

These photos bring me so much joy! The only safety we have is to know God’s Word for ourselves,

These are all new converts from a very difficult region. Difficult to be a Christian here. We spent the weekend especially concentrating on these individuals to equip them for their walk with Jesus in an area where it is dangerous to follow Christ. Many photos I cannot show as, if they got on social media, It could mean a death sentence or worse.

Many times we worry about physical harm, but there is a hidden enemy that could cause even more detrimental harm than to lose our earthy life. If the the enemy that is more dangerous than all! This enemy will do more than rob of of our life, family, safety or health. This one robs us of an amazing eternity with Jesus Christ. This enemy is Deception!

Deception

This is why Paul exhorted Timothy to “Rightly divide the Word of Truth”.

The only safety net we have from deception is to know the Bible for ourselves as revealed by the Holy Spirit. Everything we hear! Everything we are taught. Everything we already think or believe! Everything our church teaches!

Every Thing must be compared with the Written Word of God!

These precious people heard me say many times. “Don’t just believe it because I am saying it, believe it if it is in God’s Word.”

The enemy of our soul will come with something that sounds good and looks good and even looks biblical. He is a deceiver! A Liar and a Thief! He even quoted Bible to Jesus! He is busy quoting bible in every corner of the earth. The Bible says about Jesus,

Heb 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

The devil quoted Bible to Jesus and you can count on it, he is quoting bible to us from our pulpits, over TV and radio. The people that come knocking on our door with a bible and another book!

These people are only capable of decieving a person that does not know God’s Word for themselves.

Every writer of the New Testament warned of false teachers, false prophets, angels of darkness posing as Angels of Light. Warnings of impostor messiahs, wolves in sheep’s clothing.

“Workman”

Paul used the term Workman. This implies effort! Many times even God’s people are deceived because of laziness. We want someone else to study God’s Word then teach it to us. The lazy are fair game to the deceiver!

When we study God’s Word, we do it prayerfully. The Holy Spirit of God is called “The Spirit of Truth”. He is our Helper, Teacher and the only One that can lead us and teach us the Truth “Rightly”.

“Rightly Dividing The Word”.

We study God’s Word with dependance on the Spirit of God! We study God’s Word with humility! We approach God’s Word, not to prove what we already believe or something to excuse our behavior. We go to God’s Word as a blank sheet of paper, letting God teach us His intended meaning of each and every verse.

Many times, as I read God’s Word, I say,”Lord, teach me and I will be wise and instruct me and I will know”.

Prayerful, Holy Spirit lead study is our safety net from deception. God sent us His Word. He also sent us a Teacher of His Word.

We spent a large portion of our time trading these on how to know and learn for themselves.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

So many beliefs and so many practices in our churches today that have no scriptural basis.
Many of the beliefs and practices actually go directly against God’s Word.
Why assume that your place of worship and the teachings there are biblical?
Why not find out for yourself?
