Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

So many saying that the Roman soldiers killed Jesus. Some place the blame on the Jewish leaders who accused Him and turned him over to pilot, or even Judas who betrayed Him. The truth is, it is our sins that made it necessary for Jesus to give His life a ransom. If it was not for the rebellion of mankind, there would be no reason for a Savior. If we could by our own religious activities, gain access to God and have our sins pardoned, again, there is no reason for the cross.

It was our sin that made the cross necessary, but it was Love that kept Him on the cross until He died.

Jesus, The Greatest Demonstration of Love in All of History

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

This verse in Isaiah 53 was largely kept hidden by the Jewish Rabbis, because it did not fit with their theology of a king that was going to come back and put Israel back on the map. This idea of a suffering Savior just did not work with the rest of their teachings.

The Day God Left Heaven to Pay for the sins of Mankind

Jesus! Emmanuel! God With Us! The Word that became flesh and dwelt among us. The Greatest expression of Love this world has ever known or will ever know. Born of a Virgin, unto us a child is born. 33 years on this earth. Tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. God, leaving His Glory behind, because He loved the world. Suffering the most agonizing death. Crucified naked on the cross. Besides the beating, the nails in His hands and feet. Besides the crown of thorns, God layed on Him the iniquity of us all. When He said, it is finished, the price was fully paid for you and I. Today we receive the full pardon of our sins by faith in this finished Work and repentance as fruit of a changed heart.

Even before the earth was created, God knew He would have to pay this high price.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Nobody took His Life. He gave His Life for Us

Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Joh 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Even the stripes on His back He did freely

Isa 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Love Demonstrated in the Birth, Life, Death and Ressurection of Jesus Christ

Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Joh 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

God did for us what was impossible for us to do for ourselves.

2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Salvation a Free Gift

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
