Spiritual Food, Food for the Soul.
Community of @steemchurch, today I want you to reflect on the best food for us, the spiritual food, the nourishment of the soul. Many people believe that bread and other foods are the only necessary element for life. In fact, food is necessary to survive and satisfy physical hunger. But according to Jesus Christ, there is something else that is needed to make our life more than just being.
Dear brothers so that our life is truly abundant, and not only an existence, we need "every word that comes from the mouth of God", that is, we need the Word of God. In 1 Peter 2: 2 he tells us:
"As newborn babies, love the pure verbal milk, so that you can grow from it to salvation."
Newborn babies can not live without milk. Every time they wake up, they cry because they want milk. Just as newborn babies can not live without milk, neither can our lives fully exist without the milk of the Word of God. We do not need to decide whether we need verbal milk or not. The fact that we need spiritual milk is a fact. Just as the fact is that for physical survival we need something to eat, the fact is that to truly live we need the Word of God.
In this current life we have to reflect on television, the press is talking more and more about healthy foods. I think this is because the counters of the grocery stores are increasingly full of products. The commercials are trying to convince us of the usefulness of a food product, however, after reading its composition, you understand that it was a hoax.
Certainly our bodies need food for normal life. "All the labors of a man are for his mouth, but his soul is not satisfied", these words described in the book of Ecclesiastes in chapter 6 in verse 7, leads us to reflect What happens with food for the soul ?
We always give importance to the food of the body and we even learn to distinguish if it is quality food, but we rarely distinguish what DOES NOT benefit our soul, that is why we destroy ourselves as individuals, and this greatly affects our character, our state of mind, our attitude towards others; even in our livelihoods.
During the fast, Jesus, tempted by the devil, said: "Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (in Matthew 4: 4). This clearly indicates to us that the Word of God is a vital food for man, we must constantly study and deepen in the Word of God so that our soul can find peace.
The Word of God is spoken of as the bread of life: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; Whoever eats this bread will live forever "(Ev.ot John 6:51) .These words were spoken by Jesus, but about Him it is also said that He is the Incarnate Word He also said in the same sermon:" The words that I have spoken to you, they are spirit and life "(verse 63).
That is why my beloved @steemchurch community invites you to nourish the spirit and the soul: The Bible is "sweeter than honey and honeycomb drops" (Psalm 18: 11). If you have problems that can not be solved with quality food, the Word of God can answer all the questions, show you a way out of any difficult situation, encourage you, comfort you, give you the lost joy and give you wisdom to live happy and healthy.
We must also do what the Word of God tells us and discard all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all detractions.
