GREED BLINDS.
Reading Passage:- Mark 14:1-11.
From the passage above we can see even though the disciples have been with Jesus for three and half years,they appeared to be more concerned about material things than the significance of what was about to happen(vs 4-5). Many people in the church today,like the disciples, attach more value to material things than the spiritual.
Though Mary sacrificed the most precious thing to Jesus, notice how she was criticized by some disciples. Judas became infuriated, angry and resentful over Mary's act of worship because of greed not because he was concern for the poor(vs 3-5)
See John 12:1-9 which tells us how a man had vineyard who travelled to a far country and gave it to people to overseer it, so it was time for him to eat the fruit from the vineyard so he sent the first servant to go get the fruit from the vineyard and the conspired and kill him,he sent the second and they did same killed him.
Then he sent his only begotten Son and the for saw that he was the heir to the vineyard so the still conspired and killed him.
Now this people did this because of greediness.
Greediness deffered them from seeing that If perhaps they were faithful and never killed the three people sent to them that they owner of the vineyard would have appreciated them,but NO they never saw that because they were blinded by greed. They wanted to take over the Man's vineyard.
Many people may not appreciate your good works but Jesus does (vs6 of Mark14). This is an encouragement to all Christians. Jesus is not condemning helping the poor or needy among us,rather he is commending Mary's act of worship to him.
In vs 10-11 Judas betrayed Jesus because of greedy desire for money and status.
Many people have betrayed Jesus. Are you among them?
Stop and ask yourself.
