The Price of Grace had been paid for - Avail yourself

in #steemchurch5 years ago

There is a story of a cruel dog that was constantly held in chains for months in a bid to tame it. However, after the many months of being stationed, the owner decided to lose the chains. Lo! the dog refused to move. Several attempts to get it out proved abortive as it always found its way back to the chains.

It is true that many like the dog are accustomed to their old ways of life which have become their mental slavery. Even when light has come to bring liberation, they still chose to be where they were. This blog comes with a refreshing word that the price for our freedom had been settled on the cross of Christ. Grace is available for all who believe. We have access to God and his inheritances through grace.

Lets take a look at Paul's message in Ephesians 3:1-10:

3 For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— 2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, 3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is[a] that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

7 Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by the working of his power. 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in[b] God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

The ministry of Paul to the Gentile world was a practical move of God's grace to save sinners. Prior to this time, non-Jews were not considered as heirs of the kingdom until the death and resurrection of Christ which brought salvation to people of all races, languages, etc.

We, who were gentiles now have access to God. Thus, it would be a self-cheat to still live the old way of life. The Holy Spirit revealed God's truth to us through His prophets and apostles (v5). The content of that revelation is that both Jews and non-Jews who believe the Goodnews share equally in the riches of God. God has fulfilled His eternal purpose in and through Christ. Believing in Christ, we all become His people.

May God help us to receive the blessings of his kingdom. Amen
