For a long time I meditated a lot on some of the characteristics that friendship must have to be considered true. Personally I have been blessed in this area, I do not have a million friends as the song by Roberto Carlos says, but the few that I have are good and faithful.

I consider that I have many friends, but it is truly a friend who is at your side in difficult times, who gives you a word of encouragement, loves you and accepts you despite your mistakes, pray with you for that problem you are going through etc . I thank GOD because he has given me many friends and more than friends are my brothers. I ask GOD to bless you and that our friendship lasts forever.

When you have a true friend, it does not matter if 5 or 10 years have passed since you last embraced him or shared a coffee talk, when you find him again, you resume the friendship as if the time had not passed.
Sincere friendship will not be at risk for reasons of money, or kill the success or fame of one of the parties, when you love someone does what is necessary to preserve that special bond and the impossible to be by your side when you need it.

A true friend is one with whom you can show yourself as you are without fear of being rejected, for a very simple reason: "It's your Friend!". In Proverbs 17:17 we can read: "The man who has friends has to be a friend" (Proverbs 18:24). This is, without doubt, one of the main reasons why some fail to maintain true friendships

In these times in which we live is not so simple to maintain a friendship over the years, but not impossible either. Many lament because they did not know how to take care of very valuable friendships and lost them, others were sad because they only had two or three fraternal friends, there are also those who suffer because they do not have one. Someone I think often says, "Friends are a fortune that we have to deal with more than gold and if the fingers of your hands count them, you can consider yourself a millionaire in friendship!"

How to make new friends?

Without pretending to deepen the subject, I think that if someone is interested in getting new friends, the possibility of finding them will depend to a large extent on the "Mobility" that one has to go in their search. Friendships do not come from a magician's hat, nor are they made instantly like those soups that come in a bag. Besides all this, forming a solid friendship requires a lot of work and time. When we look for new friends, we notice that most of the relationships will be superficial and we will be able to meet many people but very few friends, despite this it is worth trying.
