Here is another verse I like from 1st John...

1 John 5:2-3 "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

    @simms50 I like that verse too, but for some it causes mental air gaps between Old and New Testament commandments instructions. Because, some like to point to "I give you a new commandment" rather then seeing it as "New" and not a replacement!

      For me I think the new is more on the lines of bringing the commandment to a greater meaning just like He did with murder and adultery there in Matthew 5.

      The interesting thing the deep meanings are in the old, Yeshua and the apostles just reveals them to us, such as David's story dealing with Murder, adultery, repentance, and punishment!

      The old reveals the new and the new reveals the old.

      Luke 10:22 NKJV - All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. ”
