David was extreme in his behavior not only because he killed the giant, but because he understood the position he had in Christ. He at his short years of age understood that it was God who was with him at all times and that there was nothing greater, so in 1ºSamuel 17: 37 he declares: "The same LORD who rescued me from the clutches of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!"
