The Word of God As A Shield
Text: Ephesians 6:16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Contrary to the idea that some have in putting the Bible under their pillows or heads when they want to sleep, the word of God as a shield helps us to ward off all the fiery darts of the enemy with the truth contained in it. This truth helps in correcting all errors that people may throw at us.
Although our passage aboye talks of shield of faith, faith is predicated on God's word because faith comes by hearing. Therefore, in the battle or warfare of life, we need to constantly be reminded about all the promises of God to be with us always till the end of the world. We need faith to hold on to God's word as a sure anchon
We do face a lot of troubles and difficulties in the world today. It is the word of God that will help us fight the battles of life to victory. We therefore need to study the word and know it by heart so we can utilize it in times of need. Jesus used the word to overcome the devil when He was tempted in Matthew 4:1-11. We too can apply the word in like manner today to overcome the devil in times of temptation and other trials of life.
Brethren and friends, may we learn to use this sword of the spirit, the word of God in fighting life's battles and the religious errors we come across in Jesus name.

The scripture makes us to understand that the word of the lord is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path. So definitely his word protect and guide us. Thanks for sharing
The word of God serves as a protection to those that heed to the counsels found therein.
2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 tells us that the scriptures can make us fully equipped for fine works.

The word of God is lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. We cannot live without it and we must feed ourselves with it daily.
