John Graham Lake | God's instrument for healing.

in #steemchurch5 years ago

John Graham Lake was born on March 18, 1870 in Ontario, Canada. In 1886 he and his family settled in Michigan. I had 15 brothers. John suffered from a strange digestive disease like many of his brothers and as a result of that, eight of his brothers died for that reason.

It is said that this suffering suffered from a strange and intense desire to seek the face of God. God healed him at sixteen years of gastric disease.

Over the years he was diagnosed with another disease this time growing rheumatic, which caused his legs and body to suffer deformations. God surprised him again this time through the Minister John Alexander Dowie in the city of Chicago, who praying for John and laying his hands on him was healed completely and even stretched his legs damaged by rheumatism.

Lake was appointed pastor of the Peshtigo Church in Wisconsin, after completing his studies at the Methodist Institute in October 1891. But instead of being a pastor there, he decided to devote himself to business and founded a newspaper.

He met and married Jennie Stevens in 1893 in Michigan. They formed a family of seven children. Shortly after his wife was diagnosed with tuberculosis and heart disease.

It seemed that the diseases surrounded his environment, one of his brothers was disabled, another of his sisters had breast cancer, another suffered from chronic bleeding.

Because of this, he took the sick members of his family to the healing rooms of John Alexander Dowie in Chicago, where he had already been miraculously healed. The first one he brought there was his disabled brother. They put their hands on him and in a few moments, they got up perfectly cured and could walk. Then his sister who had breast cancer. She was also miraculously healed. Before he had the chance to take his other sister to Chicago.

Then came the defining moment in the life of John G. Lake. After prominent friends advised him to resign himself to the "will of God" regarding his sick and dying wife, he opened the Bible to seek light on the matter. And he received a revelation of the Scriptures:

Even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him
Acts 10:38

Suddenly, he discovered this: the disease was of the devil, not of God. With a new faith in God He laid his hands on his wife, and she recovered instantly. Glory to God!

These events led Lake to follow his call to ministry, which would shake two continents, Africa and America. God's call was so strong in his life that he sold everything he owned and took his family to Africa, where he believed that God was calling him to minister the gospel.

Lake took his call seriously, and it was here that he began working in South Africa, that it influenced some seven hundred thousand people in a nation of fifteen million people to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

This search for God continued to grow. After nine months of prayer, fasting and many tears, he was finally baptized in the Holy Spirit while he was in a woman's house, where he had gone to pray for a sick woman. His life became more powerful after this experience, God was acting through him with a new strength. And the cures were of a more powerful order.

He returned to the United States in 1912 after his wife died unexpectedly. He never returned to Africa after this.

A year later 1913 he married Florence Switzer of Milwaukee and raised five more children; adding a total of twelve children.

Lake had a fair concept of God as a loving father. He also had compassion, holiness, audacity, vision, humility, faith and prayer. All these points play an important role and are all necessary.

He never hesitated to answer a call from a sick man, Even to the point of going to a strange city in Africa. Once the people came to know that he was there, they brought the sick, the blind and the lame. His compassion reached them and God strengthened him in that moment of need.

Lake was also a man of prayer. He spent some time praying on his knees, but he also liked to walk and pray. This was his favorite way to commune with God.

The Healing Rooms of John G. Lake got its first start in 1914, when Lake began teaching on the subject of Divine Healing at a local church in Spokane, Washington.

Lake began praying for the sick on a daily basis and soon he was so overwhelmed by the real crowds of those who came looking for a healing that he was forced to instruct others about what he called "The Science of Divine Healing."

They were guided through a "series of lessons" on divine healing that were designed to impart faith and knowledge in order to bring healing to the sick. The group of men and women who instructed Lake was called Divine Healing Technicians.

Lake had great ability to impart faith to his listeners. He did all this by teaching the realities he knew about the Word of God regarding divine healing and the authority of the believer. Lake continued ministering in Spokane until 1920.

From 1915 to 1920, the group of 16 technicians of divine and lacustrine healing recorded approximately 100,000 cures, the city of Spokane was declared by the government of the United States as the healthiest city in America.

When Lake left Spokane, the Healing Rooms stopped working. Upon returning to Spokane in 1931, he discovered that the work he had started was no longer there. He began to rebuild a church and the healing rooms.

Lake departed in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1935 at the age of sixty-five and the Healing Rooms did not reopen. The original building that housed the healing rooms was burned.

He checked the divine healing in his life and from that moment he was convinced that God does not want his children to be sick

Special thanks to @steemchurch for motivating his parishioners to expose the men and women that God has used as an instrument to demonstrate their power, and to friends @sniffnscurry, to support and fund this beautiful initiative.

Very good T.

John lake was one of the men most used by God, he teaches us the price of renouncing everything by the call of God, he left his country, his company and his money! In obedience to the call, God miraculously supported him with people who gave him money and a house for him and his family. When I read about Him some time ago, I considered it to be the greatest and most impressive healing ministry.

We hope that science advances to alleviate illnesses or do we pray that in this time God will raise a genuine healing ministry?

Thanks for remembering this awesome story!

Beautiful reflection on John Graham Lake, an example to follow. Certainly Jesus took our illnesses to the cross of Calvary to demonstrate divine healing on this earth and this man was one troubled of those who came to discern the revelation of God with regard to diseases until he came to the conviction that diseases were of the devil, not of God and thus demonstrate the glory of God in humanity
God bless you @theonlyway.

An impressive Ministry, thank you for sharing
