The crowds approached Jesus in the first place to receive his teachings, and then because they wanted to enter the touch of his healing hand. Teaching and health were two integral parts of the Lord's ministry. A large crowd had completely filled the house in Carpernaum, because they wanted to hear his words this is outlined in the Gospel according to Mark chapter 2.
So eager were they to hear the teachings of the teacher that they left no room for four men to come in who brought their friend who suffered from paralysis, they were convinced that they would receive something from Jesus. But these friends did not give up.
They climbed by means of an exterior staircase that led them to the roof of the house; They removed part of the roof and made the paralytic descend through the opening in the ceiling until it was placed in front of Jesus.
The healing ministry of Jesus was closely related. These integrated the double ministerial purpose of Christ as Messiah and Savior. The bible declares that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.
Satan is the original cause of all diseases that attack the world.
Jesus came to destroy the effects of sin through his forgiveness. But it came through its healing power.
Jesus does not always begin by forgiving the sins of a sick person. On the other hand, he clearly explained to his disciples that not every disease is directly produced by a particular sin committed. But on this occasion the Lord realized that what paralyzed most urgently was not the healing of paralysis. That is why, with deep love, he addressed the patient and declared that all his sins were forgiven.
In most cases a sick person is discouraged, discouraged and full of sin. This, of course, needs salvation before you can enjoy complete health. In such cases the healing of the individual without doing something to rescue him from sin is like removing the cobwebs without killing the spider. In this aspect fail that group that offer health, wealth and happiness. It is also where the medical profession and the therapy of many psychiatrists and psychologists fail, because they do not care about man's deepest need, or can not satisfy them, they do nothing to free him from sin.
The words of Jesus would have constituted a blasphemy if he were not God. Not only that, but said statements would have been nothing but empty and useless words.
I ask those who criticized it, which is easier to say:
Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (I said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
Luke 5: 23-25
That is, anyone could utter those words, but unless it was backed by divine power they would be nothing but vain words. Then, the Lord proved that he had the authority to forgive sins by demonstrating his authority to heal diseases.
The words of Jesus carry with them their restorative power. At his voice the dead nerves and sinews and muscular atrophies of the paralytic were instantly restored. The healing power of Christ flowed throughout the body of the crippled as his forgiving power had already saturated his soul.
Through all his miracles, Christ showed his love and compassion for the human being. Actually, he is a wonderful savior and healer!
