RE: To those of you going to steemfest, this is important

in #steemfest5 years ago (edited)

Despite the "decentralization" of social media bragging rights, it's going to come down to those with the greatest amount invested sitting comfortable at the top taking the time to listen to each other and agree on a game plan. Which is in fact a very centralized concept. But also very necessary. I've had accounts respond to me when I tried suggesting more centralized decision making for the good of the site respond with the typical crypto-koolaid answers of "decentralization is my personal Jesus and messing with that is blasphemy." But this site is already very centralized it's just a fairly ineffective centralization because they might be pros at how crypto works but seem to be lacking the vision on how to make it appeal to the masses.
The thing is, this site is no longer the only social media crypto platform around and there will be plenty more looking at everything that is being done wrong here so that they can put together the next great thing that does it right and turns Steemit into Myspace. (Which at this point would be an upgrade but you get the idea =p)
Those sitting around moaning waiting for "whales" to come: have you ever thought that those with large amounts of money to invest have half a brain and can look at this site and notice egregious problems that keep them from investing in it?
So here goes, I'm going to tag the community leaders with the power to take this site to the "next great thing"
@timcliff @aggroed @ausbitbank @jackmiller @guiltyparties @curie @yabapmatt @pfunk @themarkymark @ocd-witness @kevinwong @c0ff33a @enginewitty @c-squared @followbtcnews
Not an all-inclusive list just those I have noticed doing things that I construe as "leadership"

Change = a process.

Any and all changes require the process of accepting the proposed changes to go through the steps of getting consensus, meaning that those who can implement changes actually accept those changes!

Hence, it all really depends on people and their willingness and ability to accept changes, even if those changes may in fact get them out of their "comfort zones".

Definitely working on it buddy. I haven't a large as stake as some, but like to make my voice heard. In my opinion, it's not really Steem that is a problem. Steem is down right gorgeous and some of the things I've seen coming attached to the chain WILL have value the masses cannot deny. One of those is something called @dstors. Give it a look when ya have time.

Half centralized, too, that dStors thing - which is why we have interest coming in from outside of steem and we're in talks. This WILL be one of greatest things to ever happen to steem. We will create massive liquidity but folks must use their imagination to see the vision that's being shared, even BEFORE we make official announcements and allow people to it clearly. By then, however, early birds will be singing beautiful songs in the name of freedom and steem while others will forever play a catch-up game! Steem ftw.
