How Important Is Voting Power and the Vote Amount You Give?
The more you grind on the Steem blockchain the more you find out. You don't even need to be searching specialized knowledge or specific information ~ then BOOM! Another bomb goes off on a mental level... Previous perceptions are demolished!
When the smoke clears, you find out something new! Don't be surprised if the new discovery is a game changer!
That said, let's deal with Voting. As important as this Steem account function is, it could be one of the most misunderstood features.
I will do my best to make it plain and simple... If there is little Steem Power ~ you have little voting influence. If the Voting percentage is less than 100% ~ you should check your account dash board to see what the voting amount is. It makes no sense to cast a vote for $0 reward. Do you waste Resource Credit upvoting with a voting amount of $0?
You don't generate any Steem reward payout when your Voting Amount is $0! Even if your Voting Power is 100% ~ if there is no Voting Amount, there will be a $0 reward.
I recently found out that Voting Power is not the Voting Amount when there was an increase of my Steem account's Reputation Score and Steem Power.
The Voting Power is derived from calculations involving the Reputation Score, the Steem Power, and the how much is in the Steem reward's pool. Simple right?
Not so fast! Be perfectly clear that this is a good thing, because it safe guards the blockchain from spam abuse. Just slow down the volume of your manual curating upvotes. Only upvote at 100% Voting Power with a Voting Amount of $0.01 or more!
The other little nuance about upvoting is this ~ make no more than 10 upvotes daily to allow your Voting Power to properly recharge. As it recharges, you will notice that your Voting Amount goes up as well.
With these voting guideline in mind, you will see a noticeable difference in the actual amount you give as an upvote. It's calculated based on the time of the post, the number of upvotes, and the total amount of pending payouts. What you will notice is on some post's, the Steem account (RS, SP, VP, VA, etc.) numbers just support calculating a higher amount than the Voting Amount indicated by your Steem account. Some times it will be a few digits, which is far more exciting than $0 Voting Amount added.
At the end of the day, there is nothing wasted. It all counts towards Steem rewards paid daily, the great motivator of high performance action Steem account owners!
