On 15 April 2019, after eight centuries, Notre-Dame Cathedral was severely destroyed by fire. The reconstruction will take years.
Arvincent Callebaut Architectures has submitted a fantastic design of how Notre-Dame could look with a Gothic and Biomimetic Forest in the dome of the cathedral. An urban farm is to be built for the poorest of the population above the pointed arch vaults.
Aquaponics and permaculture produce up to 25 kilograms of fruit and vegetables per square meter per year. Therefore, up to 21 tons of fruits and vegetables could be harvested and directly redistributed for free each year. To that end, a farmers' market would be held every week on the forecourt of Notre-Dame.
