Nowadays the ever more popular tiny houses seem to have become ridiculously expensive, often costing even more than a 10x as big house stand-alone costed to construct 2 decades ago.
Multi-award winning Wheel Pad is an interesting take on the “tiny house” genre, extending the genre to people with mobility issues.
Complete with ramp, the 200 square foot module/tiny house consists of bedroom and bathroom which are universally accessible and even come with hoistway track throughout.
Still clocking in at $60,000 for the base model (solar panels and composting toilet available as add-ons) the Wheel Pad is a low-income solution offering a high degree of independence for people with mobility issues.
Also available as lease, at $3,000/month.

Yeah, the cost of tiny houses feel like abusing the hype (and also need for them in big cities).
I’m all for freemarket but given gentrification especially tiny houses cost should be regulated because in cities they can contribute to solving the problem.
Advantages:-
(1) It is a beautiful tiny house along with solar panels and a composite toilet.
(2) Top class interiors.
(3) It can be affordable by those having low income yet dreaming to have a house.

This hous is more beautiful and luxury than mine. It is tiny but it is nice inside. It is also cool that it can be used for universal accessibility.
I love tiny houses but just like you, I'm always puzzled about its price. These type of houses should cost lower and affordable for everyone. Maybe because of the material used to built it. Anyway, I love your hunt. Great find.
I think the biggest element in the cost, aside from fashionable profit margin of course - is compliance with health and safety standards, as well as (First world) labor cost. The latter which requires skilled laborers to receive insurance certification.
When selfbuilding, and without needing the trailer frame, I’ve seen kits at around 1/4 of the price. Of course, they have no designed finish yet and tend to be minimum option for everything. What I like most about this one is that they offer leasing at similar price to living in a care home (since food not included in wheel pad lease).

Problem with this type of trailers, that’s what they basically are small trailers, is that they require a top of the range SUV/Jeep to pull them. So that needs to be added to the price when wanting true nomadic lifestyle. Leasing a tractor soon becomes expensive too.
I like it, since its price is accessible and can be taken from the camp and thus save a little money in the rent of a big game remorque until next time
I feel myself happier when I see a hunt for disabled people. This tiny House "Wheel Pad" is great for living not only for the disableds, I would like to stay in it near a lake.
