Minds.com is probably the closest I've found to Steem so far. It has a daily reward pool based on how many votes you've received for your content. As far as I can tell, it's account-based as opposed to stake-based... so it's based on popularity.

Minds.com has their own Minds token which is held on your ETH wallet. This means you have to pay a ETH gas fee to withdraw your Minds tokens. They're still in the TestNet phase so the economics of it all haven't been established.

They've got some messaging features, and some paywall features... so to me it looks like a cross between Pinterest, Twitter and Patreon. It's an interesting concept, I think I'm definitely going to create an account and have a play.

Be interesting to see how the crypto/blockchain space plays out... there's lots of systems jockeying for position... (which means Facebook will still probably win).
