It seems like overkill as she said she had 26 missed calls within minutes. If we've learned anything from movies, it's that you don't want to be getting calls from people while you're running/hiding from attackers. Seems like you would just want it to alert the authorities, not your mom 6,000 miles away who would then alert your host family.

Also, who has access to the location services? Are they always on? Where are they sent? Where are they stored? Could the people attacking you gain access to the system and just follow you using the location provided by this service?

Lastly, what is the cost? Is the pepper spray rechargeable/replaceable, or do you need a new device anytime you use it?
