We developed a concept of transformative appetite, where edible 2D films made of common food materials (protein, cellulose or starch) can transform into 3D food during cooking. Based on this concept, several dishes were created in the kitchen, to demonstrate the futuristic dining experience through materials-based interaction design.

Now the flat 2d looking food items can transform into beautiful 3d structure upon cooking. This shape transformation of food items is triggered by interaction with water. Transformation can also be controlled by temperature.
Potential Applications
This kind of food offers great advantages and has many potential applications like:
- 2d packing which is more sustainable and economical
- 3d printed food

It seems like printing and eating food that we could see in science fiction is coming true.
It is amazing to see that food ingredients, which were originally 2D, turn into 3D objects when heated or touched by water.
I want to taste this special spaghetti.

May be a chicken will transform into a live chicken , if this technology is used , LOL 😝😝😝 But awesome invention by MIT labs. There is no information on the food safety part, I expected more info on that.
This is a curious invent😉 but if 2D packing is more ecofriendly I do support this👍!!
