The predecessor of C414 was a hit during its release, the C414 I would say is phenomenal. C414's 9 polar patterns really provides a perfect sonic capture for your every application.

Even though that the C414 XLS has been a major update from the former model and is now a great makeover for the 21st century and one of the well-known high-end microphones out there using capacitors, I will not be able to verify this product as the release date of the current C414 XLS is going back to 2004. Yes, this kind of classics don`t need that many updates, as they are classics, but unfortunately, SH is about cool and "NEW" products.
