A pagoda is a tiered tower with multiple eaves, built in traditions originating as stupa in historic South Asia and further developed in East Asia or with respect to those traditions, common to Nepal, India, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Burma, Sri Lanka and other parts of Asia.
These buildings (pagoda, studa) became prominent as Buddhist monuments used for enshrining sacred relics.
OR
Pagoda is a place of worship most often associated with buddhist relics common in parts of Asia like India China Korea JaPan Cambodia etc. In structure there are multiple tiers and can be built of wood or granite.
